sky box faulty, what to expect?

In my experience they are usually sensible depending on your contract. Those paying full price they will bend the rules for... those who have haggled them down for discount previously they won't.0

However they won't surely offer the call out at £15 unprompted, you would have to have negotiated that fee?No free lunch, and no free laptop

yes good point. if we do this how much will a new hd box cost? my dad has got so used to having sky. hes been going mad this week with only the regular channels to watch. our tv aerial is crap so we dont even get all the freeview channels.JimmyTheWig wrote: »And you save £65 a month for a while.
Won't take long to cover the cost of a new box at that rate!0 -
Why don't you just acquire a spare Sky+ box for use as a backup? No free lunch, and no free laptop

True,
But if you are paying £65 per month I cannot see them throwing away that kind of money for the sake of a new box.
Worth a try IMO, worked for us anyway.
(Its like T mobile said they could not do anything so asked for PAC and gave a month notice, a week later they rang with an offer, still said no, week later they rang again, said it was the best they could do, still said no, week later they rang with a better offer and we accepted.)0 -

When out box stopped working we just rang them up to cancel, they asked why and we said because the box is not working, they offered to replace it free of charge, we did not even have to negotiate anything.
I suppose it depends on who you are talking to sometimes but they must have guidelines on which they can operate such things.0 -

i wonder if which call centre you get through to has an impact. i am pretty sure they have a call centre in the uk and in india.0 -
in relation to the freeview issue i briefly mentioned in a post. do you think it would be possible to get some of the channels we dont have by manually tuning? we have a samsung tv with built in freeview. when we tune we use the autoscan function and we dont get all the channels this way. if we manually tuned channels would we have to do every channel or could we just do the channels we currently dont find through autoscan? i presume theres a website somewhere with all the frequencies?0

Sky's call centers are in Scotland (Lothian),Northern Ireland (Belfast & Londonderry) & the Phillapines (Lipa)
The problems you describe point to a failing PSU (power supply unit) & these can be fixed for around £35.0
