I made a claim when my credit/storecards were with a debt helping company and got all my charges back on they used it to clear cards. So either way it is a win win for you0

Thanks for that advice Twinkly, I contacted RBS who said that as I do have a payment agreement set up through CCCS, I will be able to access the money paid in. This is great news:j0

I'm not sure if this has been asked before I have looked but cannot see anything. If it has if someone could piont me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
I'm currantly on a D.M.P to regain control of my finances but I wanted to know can I still re-claim my old bank charges? also can you reclaim any charges you pay whilst on a D.M.P? Lastly some banks and credit cards have reduced their charges to around £12 can these still be reclaimed?

lots of advice in here ->

but basically yes you can claim even if only to reduce your debt.
Don't accept the 'reduced to £12' offer as this is still far to high a charge and you should be aiming for £2.50 per charge MAX!Got It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -
Hi all, as you can see i'm new to this forum. I hope everyone is well and good!
Just looking for some advice regarding my claim with Barclays Bank. Apologies for the length of post, i'm trying to give the full picture.
After getting into Dire Straits last year through a job loss i ended up hammering my £2300 overdraft with Barclays and then mounting up around £500 of charges.
I've since got my finances back on track with the help of the main site and the CCCS. I opened a new bank account with the co-op and set about making that my active working account.
Once that was ticking over nicely i set up an agreement with Barclays and the CCCS to pay off my £2.3k overdraft. This meant closing the account. Again, everything is going well with an agreement between myself and Barclays to pay this overdraft off.
Now the point at which i need some help.
I started my claim for unfair charges, amounting to fractionally over £500 including interest. After only a few weeks Barclays presented me with an offer of close to £400, an ammount that I had already decided i would settle for as a partial offer.
Withthere offer came an acceptance form, which stated this money would be paid intop my account. This was already closed, so i contacted customer services to ask if this money could be paid into my new co-op account. The girl on the phone said this would be fine, i just needed to detail this on my acceptance form.
Around a week later i get a letter saying that the customer service advisor had made a mistake, and account in debt must have the money paid into that account. Basically using this money to pay off a part of my overdraft.
I understand that using this money to pay off this debt would be a good idea, however i'm happy with the agreement we already have through the CCCS and would rather this money be given to me so that i can use it to clear my 1 remaining debt with a family member.
Do i have any right to ask that this money is paid to me?
What course of action should i take from here?
I thanks you all for the time you have taken out to read this and hope some help and advice can be passed on to me, and any others facing the same situation.
Regards,
Craig.0 -
This is a brilliant question and one that I've been hunting for an answer to for several weeks.
Any responses guys?0 -
You can ask but if there is a debt held with the bank its normal for them to put any monies reclaimed into the account with the debt.0

Thanks Edinburghlass... Looks like that'll be going straight into Barclays then. At least i don't have to pay it back to them now!
On to HSBC now! :j0 -
If you accept the offer you are still letting them keep £100 of your claim that could be used to pay off more of your debts.
Its really up to you, if you want the quick fix now or the better long term goal.
Barclays will pay out in full if you take it you court, but this will involve some expense in court fees but you will get them back in the end too. Also taking it to court will allow you to add on interest and maximise your return.Got It & Spent It :dance:IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)On Hold :mad:A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)0 -
