Hi. I take magnesium supplements to combat headaches/migraine. However, I find that they help me with PMS sympoms. may just be coincidence but it may be worth a try. It does say to balance hormones on the bottle.

    Hi Jen
I went to my Dr for the same thing 6 weeks ago-it got to the point where I was afraid for myself as I would get as I described it as a 'red mist' come down and I would turn into a maniac. Downright evil. My kids were scared of me.

I've been put on prozac and well, I feel like me again. Happy, optimistic, etc.
I still have down days (Saturday was horrendous) but on a whole my life is so much better now. I think I have been suffering from PND (I had it with my first child and my second is nearly 2) and just didn't realise.

    Good luck-keep us informed,
    Bunny x

  • well bunny yes, they used to say pnd could happen and start any point in the first year however now they say more..i think 5 years or so, great eh, birth AND 5 year time scale to fall apart from it lol

Thanks everyone, your comments have been really helpful.

I took that test on the Natural Health Advisory site, and if its anything to go by I need to take Vit B -which im already doing- magnesium and zinc!! Oh dear, hope ive done it wrong lol. Dont know much about Vitamins can I get one that has all that in? only because I hate swallowing tablets-the less the better.

Decided to take what the nurse gave me today at teatime like she said, apparantly they make you drowsy!!!! OMG by half 6-7 o clock I was on the couch, not asleep, just kinda dozing, remember changing the channel on tv for the soaps but dont remember anything that happened, never saw any of them! Sent the kids to bed just after half 8, and I only moved at half 10, ive only just brought my washing in off the line :o

I hope that im just tired. Think I will take it a little bit later tomorrow and if it happens again Ill just go to bed with the kids.

  • Holland and Barrat do a calcium magnesium and zink tablet. I take it for pms and it does realy work for me. They are quite often on offer. They are huge tabs though.
I also got a powdered version from a local health shop but it tasted really metalic and that put me off.

I can vouch for the Mirena coil - I'm just on my second one! No periods = no PMT and life is wonderful - I just need to sort my finances out now!

Hi pavlovs_dog, Not too bad thankyou for asking.

I only took anti d's for a few days, they made me feel awful and I know I never really gave them a chance but they put me that 'out of it' I was worried I wouldnt be able to help any of the kids if anything happened.

Cut down my caffine and changed to half-caff version, taking vitamin B complex - was going to swap that for a multi-vitamin as alot of people have mentioned other vit's that have helped them, but I cant swallow them, well I can but it comes back up (too much info sorry) They smell exactly like the formula I bought to water my lawn with!! And im gettin 'slightly' more exercise than before.

Anyway Ive had a 3 week cycle for the past few months so this is officially b***h week, had abit of cramp today (nothing like before as yet) and I felt myself get abit on edge when someone made a sarcastic comment to me but I didnt react and all day Ive been thinking how well I handled myself.

Usually things get worse as that day gets closer so ask me again towards the end of the week!!!

good to hear you're keeping your pecker up :j here's hoping the rest of the week goes as well for you :kisses3:

re taking the tablets...im on the pill, and the tablet for that is about the size of a full stop. it goes down no problem :D however the cod liver oil i take for my creaky arthritic joints is considerably larger, and tastes foul! as does my multivitamin. to get them down, take a sip of a flavoured drink (enough to wash the tablet down). tip your head back ever so slightly, and pop the tablet in. all you need to do then is swallow. because of the drink, it doesnt tend to touch your tongue, so you dont need to experience how yucky it tastes :j

try not to get worked up about taking them, otherwise you panic, your throat closes up and you end up bringing the tablet back up, which is frustrating as well as unpleasant. i know its easier said than done, but take deep breaths and try and not panic about it not going down. once you've mastered the drink first, tablet later routine you'll feel like you can swallow golf balls :rotfl:

Thanks for that, will try tomorrow with the multi-vit, I have a problem swallowing pills anyway but both vitamin tabs are the same size and I can just about manage the vit B, but the multi one, well, I wretch because I can smell it, then I can taste the smell IYSWIM!!!
Someone told me to tense my stomach up when I feel like gagging and this does help a little (have to do it every morning when I brush my teeth!!) but that smell/taste was too over-powering to think about anything else!

I have to make sure I take any pills over the sink and strangely if someone is looking at me I cant swallow them either??? but that is in my head.
