I am trying to reclaim about £300 from abbey (at the questionnaire stage), along with the defence they offered to settle for 63% of the claim (£1900). I then wrote to them and basicly said if you up the offer to £2380 and reimbuse the court fee £120 i would settle. Me being impatience after 2 weeks i followed up with an email asking what the situation is.
Does it nomally take this long?? Im guessing they leave it very late to offer to settle??0 -

Wish I could get Abbey to start looking at my request for statements..........twice they have sent me a letter saying I have given them the wrong details so they can't find them! I know this not to be true as I have phoned to confirm my details are correct.
They have already wasted 28 days and counting and I am still nowhere - is there nothing else I can do to get past their time wasting?

Hi,Angelwillow
Don't think there's any way to hurry them, I'm still waing for my statements (since February)! Have even reported them to Information Commissioner, but he has a backlog too!! Last week, tried writing to Director responsible for Complaints, and still waiting for a reply!!!0 -
I have put a claim in with the Abbey and they have put £200 in my account - this is no where near the amount claimed - where do I go next?0

and to Linda above, you need to write back and say thanks very much for your offer but you will only accept it in part payment and without prejudice and will be proceeding to court for the remainder of your claim.0 -
I've now gone through the whole process of writing the series of letters, and have submitted my claim via Moneyclaim. Abbey's 'Bank Charges Team' have responded via a paralegal, indicating that they intend to defend all aspects of my claim.
A couple of days earlier, but only received at the same time due to 2nd class postage, Abbey wrote to me offering to refund me £260 in charges that were yet to be debited from my account (which I had not incurred, by the way), and have in fact put this money into my account.
Do I need to acknowledge this part offer made via their complaints team, or do I need to speak directly with the Bank Charges Team, or none at all?
I'm just a little confused as to how this affects the aspects of my claim.
Incidentally, I do intend to pursue my claim all the way to court.0 -
Hi just a quick note to say a big thank you !!!!! to Martin and all you guys and girls out there for your help and information. I went through the process of trying to reclaim my charges from Abbey. Having followed the guidance and written to them using the letter templates on site and then subsequently taking Abbey to online court, I have been awaiting my court date in July. When this very morning much to my delight I recieved a letter 'without prejudice' from the Abbey settling my claim in full £4186.50. I am now just waiting for the cheque.
For all of you going through the process yourselves, take heart. Power to the consumer !!!!!!
All the best Rod:T

Just received a reply from Abbey today stating that they do not feel it is appropriate to offer a goodwill credit gesture on this occasion.
I am claiming just over £200 and presume this is just a standard letter.
Has anyone else received this letter?
Any advice at this stage would be appreciated.NATWEST Amount Claimed £2860 Amount Received £2860

Hi Beachamp
I would say that this is a standard letter due to the volume of complaints abbey are having as they have to acknowledge you.
Carry on with to next stage and keep to your time table and good luck..
