  • lol, Not serviced for 15,000 miles why start now :)

Keep driving until it wont go anymore.

    Money saving, init.
  • Just because it hasn't been serviced at a garage for 15K miles doesn't mean it hasn't had oil and filter changes and other repairs since.

As all a service at a garage consists of is a oil and filter change anyway, I haven't exactly missed out on anything.

This forum is full of comments pulling people down these days. Don't know why.

Ignore the ones saying 15K miles is too much between services.
If my car had been registered in 2006 the service interval would be every 2 years or 18K miles whatever came first but as it is a 2007 the service interval is 12 months or 18K miles.
And for you who say 18K miles is too many and you would have it done at 10K miles tell it to the manufacturer not me I'm just quoting from my service book.

    I've been Money Tipped!
The discs already have a lip on them so the plan was to get them renewed too as well as the pads.

Car was last serviced about 15K miles ago and the service sheet at the time said pads were excellent and discs were worn. So I take it after 15K miles, pads would be worn out.
I don't need a lecture on brake safety and neglect. I'm getting it seen to tomorrow.

Hmm... you drove your car with worn discs for another 15k miles even after being told about it - I'd say you do.

    Oh dear oh dear.

The manufacturer will love you, those service intervals are to keep costs down for fleet managers who will then sell it at 3-4 years old, to perhaps someone like yourself who will then follow the manufacturers schedule rigidly. Then at 7+ years old major components will start to fail. You will then have to repeat the process helping maintain the residuals for the fleet buyers.

Those discs past two MOT's since that service sheet so they were obviously all right in that time.

They were worn but not worn out.

15k *is* too long between services -- but that probably isn't your fault, it's the fault of the manufacturers setting the intervals too long.

And I'm sure that if you and Hintza contact Ford, BMW, VW, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota and many others they will bow to your greater knowledge of the service requirements of cars and alter their service intervals to what ever you say they should be.

Slightly off topic but I normally only use my brakes to stop... I use my gears to slow down. It amazes me how many cars I follow with their brake lights continuously on while travelling down hill.
