Making chicken feed of my mortgage

  • I suppose there are worse things than F&V to be addicted to buying but this is ridiculous:

    Fruit - mango, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, nectarines x 6, bananas x 5, apples - 2 x eating, 3 x cooking, pears x 4, lemon, lime, watermelon, pineapple + gooseberries & rhubarb in the garden

    Vegetables - sweet potato, new potatoes, onions, red onions, butternut squash, leek, celery, aubergine, white cabbage, avocado, lettuce, spring onions, carrots, cherry tomatoes, green beans, cauliflower, cucumber, fennel, mushrooms, chilies, herbs, spinach* + courgettes, chard & padron peppers in the garden

    * bought for the The Girls but I'm sure they won't mind if I take a handful

    :o:o:o

    So the plan is:

    Monday
    Breakfast - banana + crumpet + peanut butter
    Snacks - mango/strawberries/carrots/cauliflower
    Dinner - baked sweet potato with guacamole (1/2 avocado/cherry tomatoes/red onion/chili/coriander/lime) + something with mushrooms

    Tuesday
    Breakfast - berries/banana in overnight oats
    Lunch - coleslaw (white cabbage/carrots/fennel/celery/onion) + roast chicken
    Snacks - mango/cherries/watermelon/cauliflower
    Dinner - broccoli/leek/lemon/basil in barley & broccoli risotto

    Wednesday
    Breakfast - stewed apple with weetabix
    Lunch - leek/spinach/parsley/celery/carrot/red onion/lettuce in feta frittatas with carrot & celery salad
    Snacks - cherries/nectarine/watermelon/cauliflower
    Dinner - green beans/cucumber/spring onions/mint/lemon/red onion/apple/beetroot in green rice with apple, walnut & beetroot salsa

    Thursday
    Breakfast - stewed apple or banana/LO berries with weetabix
    Lunch - LOs from Tuesday & Wednesday
    Snacks - nectarine/watermelon/pineapple
    Dinner - aubergine/coriander/red onion/lemon in Moroccan aubergine & chickpea salad + if I have enough WW points, a lamb chop

    Friday
    Breakfast - stewed apple with weetabix
    Lunch - LOs from Tuesday & Wednesday
    Snacks - nectarine/pineapple/apple
    Dinner - red pepper/onions/chili in huevos rancheros

    So not quite the meal plan I'd planned but hopefully one that will use my stash before it spoils!

    I ended up having to compost 1 pear (went from being rock hard to mouldy in the blink of an eye :mad:), 1/2 avocado :naughty: and also 2 lamb chops, 1 swordfish steak and a few miscellaneous bits & pieces from the freezer that I didn't fancy taking a chance on after dubious storage conditions :(

    Remaining = 1/2 pineapple (snack - tomorrow and Monday), 3 cooking apples (to be stewed and used for weekday breakfasts and/or frozen), mushrooms (on toast for brunch tomorrow), 3 x pears + handful of blueberries (to be mixed with natural yogurt for brunch tomorrow + snack midweek), 1 x apple (snack - Tuesday), 1/2 head of broccoli (snack - Monday), new potatoes (dinner - tomorrow) and butternut squash (dinner - Wednesday or Thursday as Bengali squash & chickpea curry).

    My cash spends are now up to £331.19 but this does include £72.50 on 1/2 lamb, £16.83 on treats for The Girls and £10 on gift for niece so not too bad... for us!

    I went to chub club this morning for the first time in 6 weeks and I have stayed the same weight (goal + 0.5 lb) so I'm pleased with that :T Although, truth be told :o, I've actually lost 3 lbs this week.

  • * 1 hour gym
    * 19,500 steps
    * ate healthily
    * and I'm on track for an early night

    I know that I challenged myself to go to the gym every day whilst Mr MWC is away but I think I'm going to give myself a day off tomorrow... unless I wake full of energy and raring to go!

    That'll be a no then :rotfl: A disturbed night's sleep as a neighbour decided it would be a good idea to unload glass bottles from a van at 02:30 :mad:

    I need to get quite a few jobs done round the house and garden today - think I'll do it in 15 minute bursts and reward myself in between by reading the magazines I borrowed from the library yesterday :)

  • * no gym
    * 11,500 steps
    * ate healthily
    * I'll be in bed by 22:15
    * house & garden a bit more respectable
    * mucked The Girls out
    * sowed some dwarf runner beans (a bit late but I had to wait until the broad beans had finished)
    * started my Christmas shopping :shhh: :xmassmile (spotted something in the library's copy of Ideal Home that is perfect for my aunt!)
    * loving the spearmint/denim/slate/white living rooms ideas in IH - VERY tempted - would mean delaying mortgage freedom and spending some of our savings as we will need to do the kitchen, sand the parquet floor and buy & fit a woodburner at the same time... :whistle: Will discuss with Mr MWC on Wednesday.
    * soaked in a bubble bath/home facial/pedicure/body scrub/intensive hair conditioner

    Mr MWC sounds like he is having a fab time in Taipei (mainly eating :drool:) - very jealous!

  • Morning, sounds like you're making good use of time whilst Mr MWC is away :)

    Stop thinking about your decorating though - you need to do my sitting room colour scheme first :rotfl:

    Ah yes, the old 'blind-side him while he's jet-lagged' tactic. Excellent :D.
    A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    :rotfl: Does it work?!

    Actually... Mr MWC would have already bought a new kitchen by now if it was up to him ;)

  • Mr MWC is home tomorrow evening :j

    During his absence, I...

    * went to the gym 9/10 days
    * walked 175,000 steps
    * ate healthily
    * avoided alcohol
    * caught up on some much needed sleep
    * lost 5.5 lbs

    He hasn't done any of those things :rotfl:

    Today, I'm thinking that we should knuckle down and pay the mortgage (whilst researching kitchen/wood burner/sanding floor costs) and that I shouldn't flick through housie magazines, even if they are free!

    4 days to pay day :)
