Ouch to the car bill MWC...

Love the ideas of Balsamic Vinegar fried red onions on a pizza - must try that next time I make our cheeseless pizza using rosemary flatbreads.

Can you draw back down from the mortgage to fund the car?

  • Can you draw back down from the mortgage to fund the car?

Yes, if I was in dire straits. It's not that bad though and we do have a sizeable emergency fund - I just don't like spending it... :rotfl:

    Eggs IN 5
Eggs OUT 6 (1 box sold for £1.50; running total for April = £1.50)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • I had to WFH today as my car is still at the garage (should get it back tomorrow evening) and Mr MWC needed to use his - 50 miles petrol saved :T

I may have been distracted by the lovely weather and "finding" more seeds... :o One raised bed divided into 9 squares using spring onion seed tape (slightly odd gift from brother's MIL!) and planted/sowed with rocket, turnip, lettuce - lollo rosso, parsley, cavelo nero, lettuce - bronze-red cos, leaf salad - Californian mix and 2 spaces left for callaloo and land seaweed.

The annual MWC vs sycamore seedlings battle has begun

    Eggs IN 6
Eggs OUT 18 (12 in a roast root veg frittata & spinach/watercress/rocket salad for dinner (and lunch tomorrow), 1 box sold for £1.50; running total for April = £3.00)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021

I'm glad somebody else hasn't managed to sweep up all the sycamore seeds :o this year and last, I've found a *lot* more than previously - I'm starting to wonder if the winds have been stronger in a particular direction
2023: the year I get to buy a car

I gave up KC - none of the neighbours bother and as soon as I cleared leaves/seeds the wind would change direction!

  • I collected my car this evening and it passed the ultimate "I've spent all that money but is it really fixed?" test - stuck in a rush hour traffic jam on the motorway and it didn't overheat :T

Glad to hear you've got wheels again :)

Loved reading your planting escapades - with only my tiny balcony, I'm living vicariously through you :D
a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library
  • I'll post some photos (when things start growing!) especially for you P*M :D

I've just bought some more plants (Begonia 'Inferno') :naughty: but, in my defence, I have been waiting for T&M to reduce the price before ordering and they look fabulous in my hot colour planting scheme :)
