The marble tiles look wrong to me, too.

Does he have any colour anywhere? (eg: kettle) I like Dulux's mulberry burst for a feature wall - but it might depend on size of room/ the light into it. If he likes green then willow tree is lovely (but quite pale) and so is melon sorbet.

  • Thanks greent :)

No colour anywhere apart from a dark red feature wall in the living room - the rest of his house is beige - otherwise I might have suggested red as it would be easy to accessorise!

I thought about mulberry burst for the feature wall but thought it might be a bit dark. Although the room is west-facing and does have patio doors down that end

    I've suggested this to him.

  • Plans for the weekend:

    - really must go to chub club (haven't been in November :o) - gained 1.5 pounds :naughty:
    - complete & return questionnaire for familial cancer project - not yet
    - make candied orange peel - done
    - rake up a few leaves - no
    - plant tulip bulbs - no
    - knit little hats - 4 hats made
    - housework/laundry/ironing - done
    - buy items for a Christmas foodbank collection at work - done
    - watch terrible made-for-tv Christmas movies! - done and they were really terrible :rotfl:

2 bottles of wine consumed this weekend (1 red, 1 rose) but only a net reduction of 1 as my dad gave us a bottle of red. Mr MWC has cancelled his wine club membership.

Mr MWC excelled himself in the kitchen again - braised ox cheek cottage pie  with roast beetroot, roast parsnips & savoy cabbage for dinner. The old bag trapped him in the kitchen and invaded his personal space again :(

    Eggs IN 7 (2 yesterday, 5 today)
Eggs OUT 26 (12 in a roasted root veg frittata yesterday, 14 given to family today)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

We've currently got something very similar to the capri rose in ours (which has maple units and skirting, black granite worktop, dark brown huge porcelain floor tiles, beige/ brown/ cream tiles above worktops and a neutral dark beige (think the colour of dried fresh plaster) on the walls everywhere else. When it's re-done I'm considering mulberry burst (but it is a NNW room - but has 3 windows on 2 sides and is quite large, so I might get away with it) or something else purple/ plum-y

If he's looking at having the feature wall being the one with patio doors in then Mulberry is a good possibility - it's not as dull as it seems on dulux's website - we have it elsewhere and have plaster uplighters painted in it in the lounge

Sort of hoping MWC might give me some inspiration when she visits :rotfl:. Though can't see me changing from white walls out here.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • White walls are good... as long as you have lots of colourful accessories!!!

Yesterday's dinner - pear & rosemary chicken with roasted sprouts and romanesco cauliflower - was even better

Yummy yum yum yummmmm yum :)

  • I must have an early night tonight - I'm exhausted from too many 6.5 hour sleeps rather than 7.5-8 hours :(

I've opened a N/wide regular saver a/c (5% gross) so some MOPs will be redirected for 2016.

No news yet on my matured sharesave plans *feeling impatient*

We are eating well this week :D Uncle Tony's pasta/rapini/potato dish for dinner with sprout tops replacing the rapini :)
