A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Had a chat with Mr MWC this evening - our new stretch target is to pay the mortgage by the end of 2016
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • Plans for the weekend:

    - really must go to chub club (haven't been in November :o)
    - complete & return questionnaire for familial cancer project
    - make candied orange peel
    - rake up a few leaves
    - plant tulip bulbs
    - knit little hats
    - housework/laundry/ironing
    - buy items for a Christmas foodbank collection at work
    - watch terrible made-for-tv Christmas movies!

  • I was just about to complain when she mentioned that I was on a special discounted business rate

And what does that have to do with hot water? :D Did you forget to tick a box to say you wanted hot water at that rate? If you are planning to use that hotel (or chain) again, I'd definitely ask for refund or a voucher........

You've inspired me to stock take ours (not as high as yours, but I was still surprised)

If anyone's still going after the party at mwc's - the follow up can be here: :
    Red 18 (and a half)
    White 3
    Rose 2 (and a half)
    Fizz 5 (inc 1 pink)
Ready mulled 1 (used to poach pears)

    Plus unopened:
    Quince liqueur
    Raspberry vodka
    Marshmallow vodka
    Damson Gin
    Cherry & Apple Brandy

    And part bottles of:
    Elderberry vodka
    Ginger and coriander vodka
    Caralicious vodka (drool.....)
    Baileys
HM Crème de Mures (about 1.5 litres left - yum!)

    and:
Ales: 13 bottles (mainly 'craft' ones)
    Lagers: 17 bottles
1 large bottle of fluorescent yellow WKD!!!
    2 tins of strawberry cider
1 large and 3 small bottles of various highland whiskies

That's not including about 8 bottles of wine put aside for various presents (inc teachers - am influenced by this board! :D)

I must put rose wine on the shopping list :):D

  • Help required please!

FIL has asked for my advice on paint colour for his kitchen/diner... it needs to go with white units, mocha splashbacks, beige work surfaces, beige floor, light mocha blinds, stainless steel appliances, oh and he wants a feature wall!

If you remember from photos of my house, I don't do beige!

Also, is there a "right way" to lay marble effect floor tiles or doesn't it matter? Is it my OCD or are some of these wrong???!!!
