Mr MWC's having another go at making chicken stock...!

He also prepped 3 kg of pickling onions :kisses3: whilst I made the spiced vinegar (cider vinegar, honey, root ginger, allspice berries, mace blades, mustard seeds, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns and dried chillis).

Feeling less stressed about the hampers now :)

    Made:
    Spiced crab apple jelly
    Hedgerow jelly
    Rhubarb & vanilla jam
    Whisky marmalade
    Spicy pear pickle
    Plum chutney
    Pickled onions
    Sloe gin
Individual Christmas puddings (for the dads)
ETA Quince cheese and a couple of bottles of pontack sauce that was made several years ago and is now ready to gift :)

    To make:
    Bramley lemon curd
    Chocolate-dipped candied orange peel
Cranberry, pecan & white chocolate chip cookies
    Peppermint bark
And possibly Nigella's Christmas chutney (will need to make on Saturday if I decide to)

Whiskey marmalade - do you make a normal marmalade and add the whiskey right at the end before potting/jarring (?)

Yes, to a recipe using 1 kg Seville oranges/2 kg sugar I stir in 50 mL of whisky just before putting the marmalade into jars :)

  • It was a bit breezy on the drive home

I splurged £35 today on some clip top jars for the Christmas chutney - just because they look nice in my hampers when decorated with snowflake ribbon :o

Absolutely the last time I buy clip top jars. Recipients will be strongly encouraged to return them or they'll risk not being on the Christmas 2016 hamper recipient list!

  • Evening MWC, do you and Mr MWC fancy a bread making bake off in January? Something to look forward to whilst it's blinking windy out there.

    Your hampers sound beautiful.
