  • I've decided to have a WFH/TOIL/sick day :p

    Things to do today:

    - Mow lawn
    - Tidy flower beds
    - Clean bathroom
    - Stocktake larder and make shopping list for later in the week (doing quite well using the supermarket money off coupons - £30 of free groceries in the past 4 weeks :T - running out of non-perishable things to buy now though...)
    - Read :) Just finished Last Bus to Coffeeville (excellent) and about to start 2am at The Cat's Pajamas
    - Catch-up with work e-mails from last week
    - Start a report review
    - Try not to annoy Mr MWC who is also WFH
    - Go for a walk - hopefully for longer than yesterday's poor effort (1.5 miles)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • So I:

    - mowed the lawn and tidied the flower beds
    - deep-cleaned the chicken coop - red mite :eek::eek:
    - walked 3.5 miles after dinner
    - foraged a couple of handfuls of delicious yellow cherry plums

    I didn't:

    - work from home :o
    - clean the bathroom
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

I hope you enjoy reading it. I've renewed my copy so that Mr MWC can read it too :)

  • Glad you are feeling better and that the new chickens have settled in. X
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Ooh - there's one with fruit like that near me... Must go and investigate, but not right now!

  • At long last, the new girls have names (but not necessarily new names...!)

    White Star - Miss Betty
Rhode Star - Miss Mabel aka Miss LRH2
    Bluebelle - Miss Georgina
    Columbine - Miss Harriet
    Bovans Nera - Miss Audrey

    Eggs IN 1
    Eggs OUT 0

I've still not worked out who's laying although I think I've narrowed it down to Miss Georgina or Miss Mabel :)

These one's taste like apricots

There are also plenty of trees with slightly larger yellow, red or red/yellow fruit that aren't quite ripe yet

  • Mr MWC is feeding me well although I'm conscious that I haven't shared any recipes recently...

My favourite was a simple supper of spiced chickpeas and carrots using grilled carrots  (and spinach instead of sorrel)

We've also had a puy lentil, spinach & bacon soup served with goat's cheese toasties :)

And smoky black bean & roast tomato soup :)
