Making chicken feed of my mortgage

  • I lost another pound this week's weigh-in - 7 pounds in a fortnight :T

The rest of the day has been spent spring cleaning - just the bathroom and some furniture re-arranging left to do before our guests (9 adults, 3 teenagers & 2 preteens) arrive for lunch tomorrow. Mr MWC has made the scotch broth and I just need to whip the cream for the trifle and peel a mountain of spuds.

I nearly had a hissy fit in the butchers... I went to collect the huge chieftain haggis I'd ordered at the beginning of the month... and they'd sold it to someone else  I thought I was going to have to buy 8 tiddly ones instead (hardly very impressive!) but they had 2 large-ish haggis in the freezer.

The grocery budget has taken a hammering today - I'll review the damage tomorrow.

    Eggs IN 5
Eggs OUT 3 (poached for our lunch)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • Phew, lovely to see everyone but I'm glad that's over for another year! Everything is shipshape again :)

    Eggs IN 3
Eggs OUT 24 (4 boxes given to family)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  •

I've spent a lot of today with my head in my hands - colleagues and suppliers are driving me to despair...

    Eggs IN 4
Eggs OUT 2 (in a rum-soaked sultana, banana and walnut cake for work that I won't be eating as 88 WW points )
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021

Hand in your notice - highly recommended for finding you don't actually give a toss :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Sounds less damaging than that cake though!

  • Today was no better :(

BUT I stayed strong and resisted the cake :T

Mr MWC is away again - only 1 night this time :)

  • Colleagues much less annoying today :) Supplier ignored me

Mr MWC says I'm quite tolerant until I decide that someone's an idiot and then I'm not very tolerant at all!

Free introduction to guided relaxation and neck & shoulder massage today :T
Just about to run a bath now as well :D

Need to practice those relaxation techniques...

    Eggs IN 6
Eggs OUT 6 (1 box sold for £1.30)
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • I've been paid and it's the weekend :j:j:j

    Frugal January update:

    Cash £68.72 - £62.12 = £6.60 remaining
    Nectar points £120.00 - £105.00 = £15.00 remaining
    Clubcard vouchers £7.00 - £7.00 = £0.00 remaining
    Love2shop vouchers £19.00 - £15.00 = £4.00 remaining

The total spend of £189.12 didn't include the haggis but did include everything else for our Burn's do, chicken treats, cooker-hood light bulbs and a water filter cartridge so not too bad :T

February's challenge is to empty the freezer - I've made a list of the contents and we're going to meal plan this evening :)
