Another 2 kg of wild apples stewing with cinnamon and cloves - only 5 kg left now!

We went for a 6-mile walk this afternoon and found a walnut tree :j
Unfortunately, it's in a public place so pickings will be slim :(

Apart from the walk it has been a lazy day :)

  • The Toronto trip is a lovely thing to look forward to.

I hope to visit Canada one day, we've been to the USA a few times. But never made it north of the border.

Hope you have a good time, it'll come round really soon
    Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough
  • Frighteningly fast I'm sure

    Before then I have:

    - loads of stuff to make for my Christmas hampers
    - to buy a new capsule autumn/winter wardrobe (I hate clothes shopping but the clothes I wore last year (and the year before) are falling apart and a size too large)
    - a 5-day business trip to the US
    - a 2-day conference
    - a mushroom foraging trip
    - NFL at Wembley

and Mr MWC has a 4-day work beano to Portugal!

I also need to decide what I want to do in the garden so that I plant my bulbs in the right place.

    Good evening

I've spent most of the day pottering in the garden - cutting stuff back, tidying up, planting my replacement stepover apple trees, re-potting my blueberry bushes, mowing the lawn, mucking out the chicken coop etc etc :)

Mr MWC has fed me well this weekend :T

Yesterday - HM sushi & edamame beans for lunch, roast harlequin squash stuffed with squash, bacon & thyme risotto with gremolata for dinner

Today - HG padron peppers followed by roast HG tomato soup for lunch, cardamom-roasted cauliflower with pistachio & green pepper salsa and a leek, tomato & coconut pilaf for dinner

I've made another batch of spiced apple jelly - only 1 more to go!

Lots of busy-ness going on there MWC, you do fit a lot into your days!

I find it interesting to note parallels with other people's lives on here are either in sync with financial endeavours (obvious I guess as it's the MFW board) or seasons ... our weekend has also featured garden and hen house, whilst upcoming for the week is the rest of the spicy crabs, creating a blueberry raised bed as our bushes are now far too big for their pots and deciding on where to put our bulbs for the front garden (Morry's have bulbs exceptionally cheap at the mo). Funny that essentially our lives and circumstances can be very different but some of the rhythms of our daily activities can be so similar!

Glad to sloe gin in safely sorted, love watching the colours deepen and well done on work recognition. Hope you have a good week. x

In preparation for a marathon spicy pear pickle making session this coming weekend, I've just been to Mr M and bought 16 bags of conference pears (~ 8 kg, £12).

Nothing else, just pears... why were people looking at me like I'm some kind of weirdo?! :rotfl:
