:T Gorgeous girls MWC and they look so settled already! Hasn't Miss Matilda / Tilly got a fantastic tail and Miss Effie looks so big already (our blue is the crower, just to warn you, you might want to listen out for that)!

Cheeky Miss LRH ... it's always the quiet ones! Have fun x

  • Those are some beautiful birds MWC :D

I hope they settle in quickly - isn't it funny how 'pecking order' is used in everyday language and where it came from?

I'm not usually disposed to having 'favourites', as such, but if it would be ok with you and Mr MWC, and no-one else has prior claim, then could I be a honorary auntie to Miss Clarissa please? After all, Clarissa was a no-nonsense cook, and, not to be impolite, your lovely new girl is going a bit grey......... :rotfl::D Sounds my kinda gal!

But they really all are lovely hens, good choices :D Do you already know what colour eggs they will lay, or are they not distinctive?

Miss Clarissa is gorgeous. We are hoping to build our own coop next year and your pictures have just got me excited all over again. I love your orange water feeders :)

  • Thanks Hbbb & Greying

I'm very pleased with them :j

Miss Effie looks younger than the other 2 but they all came from the same batch. I forgot to ask actual age

Miss Matilda will lay white eggs and, hopefully, Miss Clarissa will lay brown eggs with a plum hue and Miss Effie will lay dark-ish brown eggs

  • Thanks TMH and US

I can highly recommend chicken-keeping - chickens are the best pets in the world :D

I have 10 living in a bright orange eglu cube that was bought to coordinate with the garden :o Mr MWC and his dad had enough trouble assembling the chicken run kit - building a coop from scratch would have been a step too far... :rotfl:

Plants IN 6 (campanula glomerata superba plug plants - my first purchase since reading Sarah Raven's The Bold and Brilliant Garden (my copy of which also arrived today))

Managed to get the allspice berries :T

And I was notified late this afternoon that I'll be receiving a recognition award from work with a monetary value :T

Oooh, apologies, I got it around the wrong way ... Miss Clarissa may be the one with crowing potential ... that's the blue one right? So the big question is, did you sing them all to sleep?

Huge congratulations for your award (and reward) ... enjoy the moment and the extra pennies too, I just know you'll find a good use for them! x

  • No singing but I did give them a cuddle when I picked them up and popped them in the coop :)

Please please please don't let her (yes Miss Clarissa is the bluebell) be a crower...

  • Good Morning :hello: (to Clarissa and everyone :D)

ooo, I can see that I have a lot to learn about chucks :o

Why would a female bluebell crow? *confused*

I hope Clarissa is demure and modestly natured, just like her aunt........ :D:rotfl: And that she lays you beautifully artisan crafted eggs........ complete with accompanying notes on how to cook them....... :rotfl::rotfl:

:j:j YAY to the work recognition :j:j 'Bout blooming time MWC - hope the £ is substantial and you get lots of joy from deciding what to invest/spend it on :D

Have a great Saturday all :D
