Just need to do 4 hours work, buy some whole allspice for my plum chutney, pressure wash the coop so it's spick & span for the newbies and then I can go chicken shopping :D

OOooh, that's spooky MWC, it looks like you've got our exact first flock there - an Amber, a Maran and a Blue, we just had a Black Sussex as number 4! They look lovely (if a tad surprised) ... I hope they're settling in OK and the others are being gentle with them, it's a bit too chilly and autumnal for you to be stuck up the hen house supervising! Good luck, good luck! x

  • Miss Matilda/Tilly - named after the CW Stoneking song The Love Me Or Die, oh and some woman on MSE ;)

Miss Clarissa - because the urban dictionary definitions of clarissa make me smile

    MissClarissa_zpsb2cd08b8.jpg

Miss Euphemia/Effie - named after Mr MWC's great grandmother. Apparently, in Scotland Effie was used as an anglicisation of the Gaelic name Oighrig meaning "speckled one"

Introductions are going OK-ish. It started with the newbies giving as good as they got and the old girls sulking at the bottom of the garden but then Miss LRH decided this was her opportunity to climb up the pecking order and she has been horrible to them :(
