    Hi MWC

Apologies for not coming back sooner.

Really - HR are so blinkered that they don't realise the value of someone who has ostensibly won a promotion? Or is that the opinion you have formed through a third party?

Perhaps your boss should remind them how much it would cost to recruit, train and develop someone like you. I can see from the way you write and express yourself here it would be your company's loss.

I also feel - forgive me if I have this wrong - that your boss needs to put HR into place. HR is a support function and should never hold sway over operational necessity. There are a few HR professionals on here who may well advise far better than I but this sounds like petty power play to me.

Personally I would let my boss know in no uncertain terms what you think of the behaviour, declare you will be looking elsewhere and for that very reason would not be too reticent to let others in your open plan office hear you talking to any prospective recruiter (in your own time/ mobile). I am glad to hear you will pursue this angle and, despite it being a public board, I think your friends on here do need to continue hounding :D you until we see action!

However please do what YOU are comfortable with, I just think you are in a stronger position than you think you are.

    Good Luck

If you need some specific HR related advice, mwc, Mr Gt is a senior HR bod and I could direct a pm to him. Any chance that you can speak directly to HR yourself (and not some HR advisor, but someone who has some power) so that you're not getting info 2nd/ 3rd hand? Or do it by email (I like written communication - so much easier to point out errors/ contradictions at a later date ;) ) I always like to have info like this direct from the party concerned if possible - at least you can be sure who is saying what exactly that way x

Lovely garden. Am very admiring of such a lush tidy plot. Also rather envious of sweet peas in flower. Mine are making no effort at all and are probably only about 3 inches in height. Not sure whats wrong there.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

  • It must be third time lucky Watty - tried last year and the year before and had terrible results! Only difference this year is that I bought seedlings from the garden centre rather than sowing the seed myself.

I wanted to reach a financial milestone for my 2000th post (my 1000th was about chickens :rotfl:) so I've been looking at the accounts this morning and wondering how I could shuffle the money... drum roll please...

£850 transferred to regular saver ISA and I now have £25,000 in tax-free cash savings :T

  • Morning MWC, I've only ever planted sweet pea seeds, I think, and they've not been successful in the past. Will buy plants next year - putting it in the diary so I don't forget :)

Brilliant news on the savings :):)
