Came home and made 12 Guinness & chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream icing. They're not for me - one of my colleagues is transferring to corporate HQ (USA) and has requested I make these cupcakes before he leaves - although obviously I'll have to QC oneMortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000

Here's the recipe:
100 mL Guinness
100g unsalted butter
40g cocoa
200g caster sugar
4 tbsp sour cream
1 medium egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
150g plain flour, sifted
[STRIKE]3/2[/STRIKE] 3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
125g unsalted butter, softened
3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
400g icing sugar, sifted
6 mini flakes, halved
Preheat oven Mark 5/190C
Heat the Guinness with the butter until melted.
Pour into a mixing bowl with sugar and cocoa and whisk.
Whisk in egg, sour cream and vanilla extract.
Fold in flour, baking powder and bicarb.
Divide into 12 cupcake cases and bake for 25 minutes until springy to the touch. Leave to cool.
For the icing, whisk the butter, milk, vanilla extract and half the icing sugar.
Add the rest of the icing sugar and whisk until fluffy.
Spoon into a piping bag fitted with a round nozzle and pipe onto the cakes.
Top with a flake.Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
