Making chicken feed of my mortgage

  • I only managed to clean the conservatory and chicken coop before I got distracted by ebay - I have managed to spend approx. £60  on bits and pieces for my Christmas hampers (jute gift bags, red snowflake fabric to make jam jar covers, felt snowflakes, labels & tags, ribbon etc etc) - no one item was particularly expensive but it soon adds up

Miss F is still not 100% but she spent the day in the garden and put herself to bed in the coop this afternoon :)

Only 1 egg again today. Another chicken, Miss D, has decided to start moulting so there are feathers everywhere. The 3 that moulted last month (2 skylines and a speckledy) are looking particularly lovely at the moment with their beautiful new feathers :D

HM split pea and ham soup for dinner

  • Hello

I'm struggling today - really tired and desperately in need of coffee BUT I left my ID badge/vending machine card that entitles me to 3 free drinks a day at home :(:(:( and I refuse to pay 35p/cup

Miss F was very quiet this morning (but not wobbley) so I put her in the conservatory again. She sat on my lap and let me open her mouth and syringe in 1 mL of the antibiotic without a murmour (that is definitely NOT normal chicken behaviour)

  • hello moneycurious

I don't think Miss Flo ate much during the day but I've woken her up and now she's eating some chicken porridge and mealworms :)

Thanks for the tip about the coffee - unfortunately we have to use our coffee machine credits or pay for hot water as well... luckily my friend took pity on me and gave me one of her free coffees :D

  • Today was a NSD :)
Unfortunately tomorrow will be a spend day - it's my liftshare's week to drive but she is off sick and I've run out of petrol :(

Shock, horror :eek::eek: I cooked dinner for myself this evening :rotfl:
Chestnut mushroom, cannellini bean & mozzarella ragu with white & wild rice. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

  • No eggs again today :(

Miss F is slightly improved - she has a bit more life in her - and she hasn't been wobbley for a few days :)

    Spends today:

Petrol - used my 9p off/L coupon but still cost me £45.32. Liftshare will be off sick all week so I'll need to buy more at the weekend

A bag of Maltesers - spent 65p that has been on my vending card for ages but won a free bar of chocolate :j There is a 1 in 6 chance of winning - I have bought quite a few more than 6 bags of Maltesers... :o

A bowl of granola for dinner as I was late home from work

Mr MWC is home late tonight :j:j:j I've missed him (he's not usually away for this long) and not just because he cooks my dinner ;)

The first parcel of my weekend internet clothes shopping spree arrived today. The good news is that the 2 items I really liked (1 dress £39.50, 1 blouse £29.50) fit and look good, the really good news is that I don't really like the other 5 items so they will go back for a refund! M&S were very kind and put a couple of extra items in my parcel - unfortunately they were both size 10, figure-hugging little black dresses... in my dreams that they would fit and look good :rotfl:

Fingers crossed that my new trousers arrive this week as I want to wear them to a conference on Monday

  • Today will be a NSD (No. 12 for November) :D

Miss F was ISQ this morning

I'm hopeful of an egg today - Miss B looked like she was in the mood!

  • I was right... 1 egg from Miss B today :D

Gnocchi with artichokes, rocket and pesto for dinner

A colleague gave me 5 over-ripe bananas today (how does Fortune Smiles describe them - sulky?) so now I'm expected to transform them into my legendary rum-soaked sultana, banana and walnut cake with boozy banana icing. I've got enough eggs (just!) but will have to have a rummage in the larder for the other ingredients... I'll probably have to buy walnuts

My black trousers arrived today... they're a little snug:(

I'll order the next size up but they may be too big or I could try to lose half a stone by Monday (says the woman going out for lunch on Friday and of course I'll have to have a slice of cake for QC purposes...)

  • Today will be a NSD as well as I've decided to use pecans instead of walnuts in my cake. I'm normally a stickler for following recipes to the letter - much to the annoyance of Mr MWC - so this is quite an achievement for me. The pre-:money:me would have just gone out and bought the walnuts even though I have half a bag of pecans in the cupboard...
