Assuming these are your readings I calculate the annual consumption is about 6200kWhrs of which approx 30% is night usage. That would cost approx £70/month.
The tariff you are on may be an issue here as an E7 tariff normally requries you to use about 40-50% at night to be worth whikle otherwise you are using too much during th day when you pay a premium rate. What tariff are you on?

  • Thanks Helena

I am quite shocked that I have been spoken to like jalexa has, I am new to the site and I find your comments patronising.

I spoke to eon, they agree my bills are far too high for my usage and someone is coming to check out my meter. I am not allowed access to my meter as it is in a locked cupboard by the management company as I explained. Due to health and safety nobody in my apartment block are allowed access.

Thanks for the people that helped. and those of you that patronised me I will not be using this site again.

as you are a tenant do not tie your self into an annual plan or you could be charged money to exit the plan early if you were to leave the property

AFAIK exit fees shouldn't be charged for a change of tenancy, there are plenty of cases that have gone to the ombudsman and been withdrawn if applied incorrectly. It would be a pretty harsh contract agreement to include!!!

I found jalexa's comments to you very sensible and not at all patronising.

You need to have a word with yourself. Jalexa gave good advice.

You sound like yet another one that will only be happy with the answer that you want to hear.

    It's no problem :).

To be honest these issues can be made complicated if you can't read your own meter.

I really think Jalexa was trying to help and give you as much advise as possible and sometimes it's hard to get things across on a forum :o

Anyway, I'm glad someone is coming out to look at the meter for you, make sure you have bill handy as well to double check that meter serial number.

I hope it all gets sorted out for you.

    Helena :)

There is definately something wrong !

Here i pay about £56 pm by DD for the total amount of gas and electric..not each and i have gas central heating/hot water, gas cooker etc..and 2 bedrooms..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I'm paying the same with Scottish Power in a 3 bedroom detatched house and the review this month kept it at £56.

To be fair, the house is often like an ice box :rotfl:

The clue in your statement is 'GAS'

You use GAS - GAS central heating

The OP is ALL ELECTRIC property - ie NO GAS

for GAS you probably pay around 3.5p - 5p per KW/H

Electricity costs 11p to 20p per KWH

We have reached the conclusion that some point in the past the OP has probably used their ELECTRIC heating resulting in a large consumption alongside a period of underestimated DD's, running any kind of Electric heating will cost a lot more than 24/7 Gas sold day and night at the same low rate.

If you don't have access to GAS, you are likely to pay anything upto 3 or 4 times the cost of a similar property using GAS. Even Economy 7 tariffs are over 6p and with the recent rises some are pushing 7p

If you look at your current GAS prices and then change the price per KW/H from whatever it currently is to 6p for 7 hours a day and 20p for the remaining 18 hours (Npowers' new E7 rates) i'm pretty certain it will work out more than £56 a month!!
