Eon has made me cry
Hi MSexperts
Eon have reduced me to tears this evening.
I live in a small 1 bedroom flat, and a single occupant.
I am at work 9 hours per day mon to fri the only thing that is plugged in and switched on is the fridgefreezer.
When I return home after 6pm my tv is on and my cooker for an hour, my mobile phone is on charge all evening however all other electrical items are switched off at the socket.
My boiler is timed to come on at 4am for 1 hour.
My dd is £48 per month and for some reason my quarterly bills are comming out at at around £230+ per quarter.
Eon has just emailed me to confirm my dd will be increasing to £101 per month because they want to cover them amount of electricity they think I may use up to my next annual review.
Why am I being ripped off for so much money, this is very distressing and the first time i have lived away from my parents and I am stressed and upset because I cant afford my bill to double every month.
Please can someone help me, I am at a loss to do. I have just cancelled my direct debit.
I hope someone can help me

Estimated readings or do you update them? It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

I update my meter readings every 2 weeks.
I have also queried the high bills before and they said everything will balance out over the year and it hasn't0 -
Have you had your meter checked?..I would be looking elsewhere for my gas and electricity..That is a lot of money your paying.0
-
I am not allowed to change my energy supplier. Its a clause within my rental agreement.0
-
Have you checked your meter when everything is switched off?
try it maybe tomorrow, and if the wheel is whizzing round you will know there is something wrong...I would get them to check the meter all the same..
Why do they put a clause in the rental agreement do you know, are they getting something out of it by doing that.0 -
Turn everything including fridge/freezer and see what the meter is doing. If it's still moving then find what's switched on.
What do you use for heating?
How will cancelling the DD help?0 -
My heating is electric but I never have it switched on. I am likely to move in a month will this follow me?0

Reinstate your dd, at once.
They will still chase you for the money and you dont want your credit trashed.
Presumably your £48 hasnt been enough for the fuel that you use so now you are playing catch up.
What they normally do is calculate how much you use a year, come up with a £x, then divide by 12. That should be your monthly figure.
If you havent been paying enough, then you have to add it to next years £x then divide by 12 again, so you have a catch up payment, also the rise in prices plus the shortage of what you have been paying. You should have maybe been paying say £75 so there would be no deficit.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Yes, of course it will follow you, it is fuel that you have used so you have to pay for it. If you dont, it will eventually go to debt collectors, then CCJ, then your credit will be trashed for 6 years, you wont even be able to get a phone contract.
For your own sake, you must pay it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I update my meter readings every 2 weeks.
There are a few things you need to post to allow forum members to help you. The most important thing is meter readings taken from your 2 most recent bills and your actual meter reading today.
Next your account balance as stated on your 2 most recent bills. Thirdly, the date of your next 'annual review'.
£48/month might be a tad low for an all-electric flat (though not necessarily low for a flat in which you rarely use the heating). Forget the few things you switch on and focus on meter readings and billing. There is help here but I cannot promise it will be what you want to hear.0
