T Mobile PAC transfer

My 18 month contract with T mobile ends at the end of this month and I am going to change networks to Talk Mobile.
1. Do I need to give notice - bearing in mind my contract is ending anyway?
2. Am I subject to a 30 day wait to have my PAC transferred?
3. If so which phone do I use during the 30 day wait?
4. Should I just get Carphone Warehouse to do all the work for me. They said they could.

Thanks for any clarification.

The minimum term is ending, not the contract. The contract ends only if you give a notice or port the number out.
    2. Am I subject to a 30 day wait to have my PAC transferred?
PAC = Porting Authorisation Code. You can transfer the number, not the PAC. You can get your PAC now. It lasts for 30 days and you will pay for these 30 days regardless of your min term expiring earlier and/or you porting the number out earlier.
    3. If so which phone do I use during the 30 day wait?
The transfer is normally instant and happens within a few days after giving the PAC to the new network (they tell you the exact date). You can use the old sim until the last minute.
    4. Should I just get Carphone Warehouse to do all the work for me. They said they could.
Yes, but remember that you pay for the next 30 days even if you transfer the number tomorrow.

That said, T-mobile became notorious recently for trying to rob you when your call to request the PAC. You have to be very confident and persistent for not letting them to rob you.

T-Mobile just charged £15.20 for PAC Code

Talk Mobile isn't a real network, but a virtual one - have you made sure the network that does the work will be adequate for your needs?

I understand Talk Mobile uses Vodafone network. The TMobile salesman said there are problems with signal with Talk Mobile - but he would, wouldn't he?
Others have said its the same as Vodafone. The site Ofcom which gives Mobile Phone Base Station Database states that Vodafone works well in my area so am assuming this is proof enough that signal will be good here? Do you believe differently? Am planning to get the phone today.

Thanks. In that case it would be better to buy the phone today but wait 30 days for the number transfer before using it to be on the safe side? Am in no hurry.

Yes - if the phone is sim-free and it will be sim-only deal with Talkmobile. Otherwise you need to give your PAC at the time of purchase as Talkmobile is the only network that doesn't allow porting your number in later.
