What do I need to learn from the experience? Not to ask a simple question on mse and expect a relevant answer?:p:rotfl:

I've explained politely, several times why I asked the question I did. Thanks to those who gave me some ideas on different food items.:T

I meant let the boys learn, not you.

I know you did.It was a play on words based on some of the responses I've had. I've explained several times (nicely) why a pack up breakfast is required and that someone needs to buy it and asked for suggestions. But time and time again I got suggestions to do something else, fair enough to start off with to throw ideas into the mix, but they continued even after I'd given more detail. The menfolk will be sorting themselves out mealwise for everymeal from lunchtime sat till sun night.

    McDonald's drive thru. Sorted.

Dad should not be driving for hours on end without a stop anyway.

Have you actually read the thread at all? It clearly states there isn't TIME for a stop.

Yes, which is why I stated that dad should not be driving for hours on end without a stop - a McDonald's drive thru, park up for 10 minutes to eat the food and away you go - a quick break but a break nonetheless.

Surprised nobody else seems bothered about the safety aspect of long drives.

It's two and a bit hours. My father has driven that without a break, as far as I know he's doing it every evening after work.

"at least 2.5-3 hrs" was what was said and yes I'm aware many adults do have a daily commute of that kind of time, still think it's a good idea to have a 10 min stop and you can find the McDs along the route quite easily I would have thought.

But do concede, it wasn't what the OP asked so I'd just go for anything in sealed bags but attempt to have something more substantial the night before.

Christ's sake! It's one meal, and breakfast at that. I'm sure they can go without if needs be.

It's pretty mad that some of you are suggesting survival camp kits and full course meals when most people manage at home is a bowl of cereal and toast of that.

It's one meal, get them a chocolate bar and fruit for all it matters.

People are suggesting things that they think will be fun. It's a special event for the kids!

OP isn't saying she is incapable of working out what to buy, and she hasn't said her OH would be incapable either. It's just a general request for ideas ... the sort of chat that people like me who don't work full time might have in the playground.

I pity anyone who comes on here who genuinely doesn't know where to start though!

unless I needed a toilet break, I wouldn't stop on a drive of less than 3 hours.
