Get a screen shot (power and vol-) of the affected page.
If the shot is also dimmed on that side (view it on your PC) then it's not a faulty screen.0 -

yes i did read it rusty, i thought they were the buttons that restored the phone to factory settings,
its how to transfer it to the pc i meant i'm not sure of,0 -
The screenshot has to be in your gallery. Either use a usb cable to get it to your PC or e-mail it to yourself. Also you can use bluetooth if your PC has it.0

bluetooth adapter i have is not really compatable with computer but can get it to work sometimes. if not i will try your other suggestions. thanks grumbler.0

You can try seeing the screenshot in you phone. Just turn the handset to see the image in both portrait and landscape modes.0

have tried altering the brightness (it wasnt set to auto brightness) it does not make any difference.
took the screen shot and transferred to computer the screenshot is the same on pc as it is on phone.
silhouettes to the right are fully lit, names to the left are very dim,
every other screen i have been onto are fully lit eg calender,settings.internet,0 -
Any chance you could post the screenshot here? Shouldn't contain anything sensitive.0
