Not that im clever enough, But i think the crochet-ing ur own reusable bags from carrier bags is the way to go!!!

Not sure if the instructions have ever been put up on here, but i shall dig them out and edit them onto here!

i work for asda, if you take 5 old carrier bags to the greeter on the door they will give you a voucher for you to redeem at the checkout for your bag for life. hope this helps:rotfl:

What the hell is a "greeter" ? If that's what I think it is, then I won't be going there. I can think of anything less welcoming than a cheesy insincere smile and ingratiating patter.

Give me Tesco security mans lazy smile any day.

Does anybody know if this is still on offer anywhere in few of recent government directives.
  • I've had this with the self-service check-outs in both Associated Dairies, or Asda as we should call it now & Tesco. It hates my rucksack & one of the slappers who is "supervising" these checkouts has to stand at her/his/its podium & keep pressing their button. Keeps them in a job I suppose but not customer friendly & need to be re-programmed.

I just noticed this thread is 12 Months old. :o I took 5 carrier bags to my ASDA today, guy at the customer services checkout gave me 5 Bags for life vouchers. :rotfl:

"tickled pink" isnt likely to encourage males to ditch carrier bags in favour of "tickled pink" bags for life. :o

What about if you get your shopping delivered? They often put just 1 or 2 items in a bag on their own, which means you end up with zillions of bags each week and nowhere to keep them. Will the delivery man now be willing to COLLECT these next time he delivers, I wonder?? Otherwise they'll have to go out with the rubbish..... :-(
Use them to line your bins with (saves having to buy bin liners), use them to hold the nasty bits when you clean the cat litter, give them to local charity shop...lots of uses!

Before they made these quick breakdown bags (Tesco ones self distruct after about 6 months), it used to be possible to cut them into strips and, using very large needles, knit yourself a large shopping bag - one much stronger than the original bags. A friend used to raise money by knitting them for fayres and fetes.
Slowly getting organised enough to actually write a signature...:rotfl:
Boots points: £72.75 when I lost it lol Tesco points 2140
    Pigsback £4.65 MSF £3.41

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I also made the error of not noticing the date of the first posting about Asda bag for life and went in yesterday with 5 old asda bags. The poor guy on customer service looked at me as if I had gone mad! Then he called someone over to check if this was still running.
The offer finished ages ago...... I was rather red faced .... but ...... hey they gave me 3 bags for life yipeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I still had to drag the 5 old bags home though, as he did not want them:rotfl:
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

No free bags (yet) but Sainsbury's have a recycling bin for old bags which is great if you've left your bags for life in the kitchen or the boot and end up using more carrier bags due to leaky memory! x Claire

Excuse me, and what is wrong with Old Bags ?!!!!
Why would you possibly want to put Old Bags into a recycling bin ????
Old bags have seen life, lived it to the full, and have the wrinkles and sags to prove it !
    Well, that's my excuse :D
