Free Bag For Life @ Asda - 5 old carrier bags required

I saw a banner in the car park at my local Asda today stating that if you bring in any 5 old carrier bags, they'll give you a free bag for life.

There was nothing inside the store about this, and I'm not sure where you have to go to collect your bag for life - but you could soon have quite a collection of bags for life if you swap your old bags everytime you shop!

My local Somerfield store are also doing the '5 carrier bags for a bag for life'.
They've a 'cardboard bin' at the till point, where you can take 5 Somerfield carrier bags in & exchange for a bag for life.

Great idea, anything to help the environment as carrier bags take years to break down in our landfill sites.

i work for asda, if you take 5 old carrier bags to the greeter on the door they will give you a voucher for you to redeem at the checkout for your bag for life. hope this helps:rotfl:

It says on their website 'Bring at least 5 bags and we will give you a bag for life.' I take it it will be 1 per person or just get your other half to give 5 bags as well!!

What a great idea and incentive for people to get a bag for life free and get rid of there old bags at same time. I personnel used bags for life and a year or so now, I do buy them Tescos and Wilkinsons there great, but even better if they are free. I wish Morrisons would do something similar.

The only thing Asda need to do now is to have the self service tills 'accept' the bags for life when you pack your shopping!
I drive the poor S/A crazy when I go through with my bags for life....something to do with the sensors not recognising the weight of the bags...poor lad is running back & forth to turn my flashing red light off & all I hear is 'unidentified object in packing area'!!
Hopefully they'll sort it!??!

I just press "Skip Bagging" on every item - then put my shopping in the bags in my trolley. The SA don't like it as they can't check that I've scanned everything.
