great idea! As usual i bet these Asda deals go quick.
What do they do with the bags collected? (recycle them?)0 -

stupid question - can you take any 5 carrier bags ie tesco/morrisons etc or do they have to be 'asda' bags??
I just read it properly!! - it says 'ANY' 5 bags0 -
I spotted that also but assumed it was probably a mistake, since they usually cost closer to £1.
Unless they're offering them at base-cost (or very cheap prices) to help promote the event?

I still think we are missing the point - any plastic bag will ultimately end up in landfill taking 200 years to rot down. They simply shouldn't be available any more! I've just returned from Swizerland (Lake Geneva area, but I imagine it is the same throughout), where all the shops give thick paper carrier bags if you need anything. Most people take their own fabric bags anyway.
Plastic bags of any thickness are a cynical ploy by the supermarkets to get free advertising. I'm particularly incensed by Sainsbury's who changed a while back from white bags with fairly discreet orange writing on them to the new, garish orange variety. So much more noticeable when being carried around or blowing about the streets! We always know when there is a Sainsbury's in the area. Of course they would claim that the new bags contain 33% recycled plastic - big deal! They still take as long to rot down, and I find the check-out staff try to force them on you even when you have clearly brought your own bags.
Sorry for the rant, but these things cause so much environmental damage.0 -
i save my carrier bags for the dress makers shop up the road, the second hand shop and my friend who does boot sales...i can say i recycle them lol...0

Nowadays, when you return a broken bag for life, it is normally recycled and made into a new plastic bag.0 -

 Now thats an idea!! Thanks again Brucey! I'll remember that for next time.
Problem is I don't often use a trolley as I can't push my daughter in her wheelchair '&' a trolley.
Guess when I'm with my little one, I'll just make em work for their money!! (no offence meant to anyone who works in Asda!!)No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.:happylove0
