Mariages Freres is a venerable tea house in Paris and they do organic teas on the website https://www.mariagefreres.com

I didn't actually look but I think it's Mariage Freres which does the tea jellies at Claridge's.

The prices are a bit eye-watering but sometimes it's just interesting to have a nose at these websites. Besides which as my uncle (French) is always moaning about the pound is stronger than the Euro.

A handy currency converter I always use is https://www.xe.com

I found a bakery specialising in German style breads and German products. I'm somewhat surprised that doing a website search on organic returned nothing as Germans are really keen on organic.

Does anyone know Backhaus Bakery in Ham ? https://www.backhaus.co.uk

Didn't know that was there in Ham! I know the area, used to hang out there with college friends, but it's way off the main road so wouldn't see it by chance - there used to be a not very nice parade of local shops in the middle of a not that nice estate, so strange place for it unless it's got a lot better round there! It's on the border of some very expensive housing areas though.

I have watched a few youtube videos by a German man following the paelo diet and he comments that it is difficult to get good quality organic food so he has to buy conventional.

Kirri - well this thread may not be genius, but it's certainly going forth and searching out new sources of organic food :D

bornintoit - I find the guy's comments quite surprising as having Googled German and organic there are some stats from previous years showing that the German market for organic food is growing.

Also Biofach 2013 the world organic trade fair will be held in Nuremburg in February 2013 www.biofach.de/en for details in English.

Message for lurkers.. please do join in, we don't bite :D

Maybe availability of organic produce varies depending on where you live in Germany?

He has shown this product alot on his videos so he manages to find good quality mince, his chicken though is always conventional or synthetic as he calls it. They also have links to other organic/bio food they stock on the left hand side and notice that they do indeed not seem to have organic chicken.

bornintoit - thanks for that ! My German is sehr rusty but hackfleisch doesn't exactly sound inviting :(

Checked the price of the organic butter 1,49e = 1.21 GBP that just seems so unfair. In another thread on MSE someone posted new figures which show our prices are 4% higher than EU average.. why ???

In USA Aldi does an organic range, I called UK HQ they don't do one here :(

I know zero German, I was trying to use common sense and the photos to make sense of it :o

It is a shame that they do not have an organic range here, I imagine it would be good value for money. Maybe they do not feel the demand is here for it :(

The mince is converting to £2.60, I have just looked in my freezer and my reduced YS organic mince was £2.71. So the organic mince there is cheaper at it's standard price!

My uncle is French and he is adamant that food there is lots cheaper than here. There seems to be more organic food in supermarkets as well. :(

I think UK supermarkets have a bit of a stranglehold on the availability of organic food outside of London.

Had last Ocado delivery before Christmas and a Daylesford organic fruit bread has gone in freezer for OH and mother to have with cheese and chutney. Neither of them likes it so they will have Branston and piccalilli. I refused to pay 4.95 for organic piccalilli and OH likes Hayward's which is on offer at Co-op for £1 at moment.

OH doesn't like Tesco or Sainsbury's organic mince he prefers Waitrose British rose veal mince which isn't organic but doesn't have nasties and isn't fed on GM feed (I checked with Waitrose) and have to say it tastes gorgeous.

I did buy some venison mince when on offer at Abel & Cole and that is really lovely. If you're lucky, some ASDAs do wild game mix at reasonable prices as well as venison grillsteaks and burgers. My local ASDA stopped selling them and the burgers were great.

Morrisons sells Highland Game venison burgers but they have pork in them so we haven't bought them.

This does seem a bit expensive at first glance but it's 100% organic French minced beefsteak and I've certainly seen more expensive British organic mince elsewhere.

If you live in London AND understand enough French to navigate a French-only website then www.chanteroy-online.co.uk has eight pages of organic food and drink which can be delivered in London. (French for organic is biologique)

Prices seem aimed at the French investment banker enclave in Kensington for the most part but 4 French organic yogurts for £2 didn't seem too bad.
