The only nail varnish I have is black .. for covering up marks on heels
Used to wear it though, was a bit Goth when OH met me
Sounds like he had a detrimental effect with you losing the gothness and starting to eat meatDozey_crow wrote: »
Been absent of late because our bunny isn't well... We have been introduced to the joys of syringe feeding Kirri.
Oh no, is it the teeth or something else? I lost one of my pigs last week
Can recommend the Supreme Science Recovery PLUS box of 10, also comes with a larger tipped syringe. They really like this, probably the one most vets stock too, you probably have it?

Sorry to hear about your loss Kirri
Dozey Crow hope your furry little creature pulls through hugs to you both xxx
After my black lab had to be put down in March, OH and I decided not to have another pet right now..OH bought me a vintage still-in-box TY Beanie Baby black labrador puppy (Luke) from Oxfam which we named Pasha
Kirri, yup it's weird, out went the black hair and nails despite the fact that he had a thang for my boots and fishnet stockings :rotfl:0 -
Hi Kirri,
Sorry about your piggy.
Thanks for the link that is what she is on. Not sure what the problem is ATM. She has an infection on her front teeth which she has had antibiotics for then she got compacted and needed syringe feeding. She is on appetite stimulant and pain meds but shows little interest in eating but is happy to be syringe fed. She drinks and nibbles on bits but is very melancholy which is sad.
Apologies for hijacking the thread... Rabbit is a fan of organic veg if it makes it more acceptable!!0 -
Hmm.. wonder if animals can smell chemicals in food.. what do you think ? Having said that I saw a video on YouTube of cows in USA eating reject M&Ms
Kettle Chips 150g were 2.15 now 1.97 to 26/11 Co-op
Yeo Valley prganic fruited yogurts 450g 2 for £2 saving 1.10 to 20/11 Budgens
Princes tuna steaks in brine 185g 2 for £3 saving 1.18 to 20/11 Budgens
new Covent Garden Soup Co 600g soups 50% off to 20/11 Budgens
Iceland has the Kettle Ridge chips 120g (purple bags) in sea salt and salt and malt vinegar flavours for 75p but weirdly no other kinds/flavors of Kettle Chips..also Mexican Dave's Legendary Tortilla Chips 225g for £1.. additive free chips (crisps) for Christmas ? I dare anyone to have Kettle Chips in the house and not eat them though.0 -
Thanks guys, it's been a hard week adjusting/recovering.
Dozey, what antibiotic have they got her on? Baytril/Septrin most common but if it's an abscess (jaw?) some people have had very good results with gpigs on Zithromax though it is a stronger drug, has a weird dosing regime and needs a lot of probiotics (Fibreplex is good, carrot flavoured) and caution with it. Sometimes introducing new foods helps when they don't want to eat, I have 5 types of hay here for such occasions, or get veg they haven't had in a while. Dill/fennel both good for digestion at such times and if they won't eat I have liquidised veg or even melon as a treat in an emergency. Burn's dried plantain can help digestion. Cisapride/metaclopromide can both be supplied in syrup formulation from vets in times of stasis, Birp and Buscopan to relieve the pain/gas as well. The little coffee type grinders (the £10 ones) grind up their own feed too quite well as an alternative meal to the critial care sachets (which are great but very high in alfalfa usually) and sometimes even the smallet pelleted foods are possible to get in the mouth direct. Plus there are the specialist vets dotted around the country, I only know of about 5 (I wouldn't see anyone else). You may know all of this though already.. it's very hard with a sick rodent type animal as for those who don't know the digestive system collapses if continual feeding isn't supplied by the human, day and night... has taken me a week to recover.
Edwardia, I was convinced they could, my gpigs had gone organic before me, I had one who was very either fussy or sensitive who wouldn't eat cucumber skin and watching them wolf down a whole organic cucumber made me wonder. Of course since then other pigs have eaten either org or non org but who knows..
If I buy Kettle crisps now they won't be here by Christmas..
From fishnets to GF low carbing organic meals, he must wonder what happened
I need to go to Morrisons and get some org veg now..0 -
I wondered if they sell just the nut roast on its own so I can try it before Christmas (though the meal option isn't that expensive in full really @ £10.99). I'm so impressed with the way all the vegan foods are clearly labelled on the pots and the food bars and as my meals are increasingly more vegan it makes it really easy to find so many tempting things. I'd love to do a vegan tour of the shop - was that a one off thing they are doing? I was nearly tempted by a vegan cupcake in there yesterday but resisted due to the £2.99 price tag
Hadn't seen the breadsticks yet (there's so much in store..) but I had the fresh cashew butter today and it's SO good!!
.
Kirri the vegan tour was one of several events at Wholefoods during Vegan month. Only one other person showed up for it so it was almost a personal tour; the staff are very accommodating and I'm sure they'd do a vegan/gluten free/anything else you can think of tour for anyone who asks. Our guide was happy to open a packet of something if we wanted to try it and said they will do that for you whenever you shop (I think they would draw the line at opening hundreds of things as you worked you way round). If a favourite deli item isn't on show, they will make up a mix for you though may need a day's notice. I'd asked about the sweet potato and quinoa cake (savoury and very nice) which had disappeared so the guide grabbed the chef who happened to be passing. He said they'd taken it off to allow more space for Thanksgiving food but would make me some if I wanted. Also asked about the vegan Christmas dinner and the guide has emailed me now to say you can order the nut roast on its own and it's also available in the freezer section.she said to look out for it in the seasonal tasting they will be doing so and will email me to confirm. Very happy with their customer service. Have ordered the vegan dinner complete with veg to pick up this weekend so will report back.
Need to keep an eye on Wholefoods prices though, Ocado and Abel often cheaper.
Haven't tried the cupcakes, they seem to have a high ratio of topping to cake and look too rich for me. Saw an article about their creator in a veggie magazine a few months ago though, interesting to read. Some of the ingredients don't look terribly natural to me so I'd rather stick with my own concoctions.0 -
Kirri interesting about fussy gpigs.. people think labradors will eat anything but mine def got more excited by the pong of Butcher's tripe and Winalot duck & rabbit more than any other flavour. However his drool to the floor begging was usually reserved for wild venison. His nickname was Gourmetdog. He would turn his nose up sausages unless
wild boar.
alfsmum I absolutely have to visit Whole Foods <drool>
Dozey Crow good luck with ill furry, Kirri big hug (((Kirri))) over your loss.
OH knew he'd get unpredictability and people do change. He's into Jermyn St suits (bought in sales) whereas he wore blue workwear ten years agio and has done postgrad since then - haven't meaned him off mushy peas though !
Look out for pre-Christmas flyers.. got one through letterbox today offering me £5 off a £40 shop at Morrisons.0 -
alfsmum, the vegan tour sounded really good, can't believe so few attendees! I thought I'd signed up to mailings but haven't had anything and hadn't noticed it on their fb page either. I will check for the vegan nut roast in the freezer section and have a look - look forward to hearing what you thought about it, I am very likely to go ahead and order it.
I noticed some things cheaper (Ecover all a penny cheaper than supermarkets and they had some good offers on organic toiletries) and some more expensive, luckily I have a fairly good memory for prices
Shame re cakes, I also saw a post about a vegan (poss GF?) cheesecake in Waitrose/Tesco but that was full of e numbers. Bessant & Drury 'ice cream' also got a mention on a vegan page and that sounded more natural.
In Morrisons today: only 2 organic little gems left... only 2 organic cucumbers left  they did have organic sweet and the long peppers, from Spain.
M&S had organic piccolino tomatoes on offer (2 for £3) which looked nice and some large organic tomatoes which were lacking in colour. Think they were all from IOW. Also saw British organic rump/sirloin and a GF Christmas cake in two sizes.
Seriously hate shopping in shops, was rammed. Must get a veg box ordered for the end of the week..
Edwardia - our old dog wouldn't eat dog food! it made him sick.. so many brands, they all came up on the floor... don't know what they put in it. He had to have food from the supermarket..0 -
Please can someone clarify something for me. A little while back there was talk about the main nasties in shampoo and stuff. Someone mentioned baby shampoo, which I assumed meant that is was free from nasties ? Today I managed to find some, but saw that it contains SLS's, so no better than normal stuff. Did it used to be made differently ?0
-
I've been using Johnson's baby shampoo for years because I have really fine hair which is a PITA when long. I have to say I didn't use to look at the ingredients much because it worked. But now I'm trying other shampoos.
I suggest (a) Kirri would know probably and (b) Mumsnet, they're bound to have had a discussion on the forum about SLS.0
