Montedos Wholefoods seed mix, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and pine nuts were 1.19 now 89p
Princes tuna chunks in brine 4 x 160g were £4 now £3
Rachel's organic yogurts 350g raspberry or Greek-style with honey 99p
Suggest checking for additives.. possibly these:
Deluxe macadamia nuts 250g 3.49 - whole, pre-cracked, roasted, salted and with nut cracker included.
Deluxe goose fat 180g 1.890 -
Kirri I'm tempted by Wholefoods vegan Christmas meal. Think you can also order it for Thanksgiving if you want to try it out. I have booked to go on a free vegan tour of the store tomorrow, apparently the group will collect items en route to taste at the end. Sounds interesting.
OH loves Wholefoods, always buys fresh nut butter even if we have pots of it in the fridge. We like their breadsticks, organic, vegan, £1.19 a box but regularly on offer so we stock up. The rosemary ones are lush.
Have found Abel and Cole are cheaper than Wholefoods for some things, eg Tiptree organic cranberry sauce which we love with any veggies.
When they are doing a tasting day on a Saturday, we often come out feeling very full and don't need lunch. Best ones are the chocolate weekends0 -

Spotted these on Marks & Spencer ..organic whole British Class A chicken for £11 click & collect from store serves 3-4 people and for £35, an new is the organic British free range chicken selection pack which gives 12-16 portions.

Seems to me that the whole chicken for £11 is competitive because the only whole organic chicken I've ever found under £11 was at Morrisons and not a 3-4 people size.
For coeliacs or people with wheat intolerances Marks and Spencer has a whole gluten free range on click & collect. However these may be not be additive free - the crumbed cod fillets for example contain E numbers.

I wondered if they sell just the nut roast on its own so I can try it before Christmas (though the meal option isn't that expensive in full really @ £10.99). I'm so impressed with the way all the vegan foods are clearly labelled on the pots and the food bars and as my meals are increasingly more vegan it makes it really easy to find so many tempting things. I'd love to do a vegan tour of the shop - was that a one off thing they are doing? I was nearly tempted by a vegan cupcake in there yesterday but resisted due to the £2.99 price tag
Hadn't seen the breadsticks yet (there's so much in store..) but I had the fresh cashew butter today and it's SO good!!I confess that I hadn't noticed Gousto at Ocado or the menu box at Riverford:o so thanks to Kirri for being more observant !
Last night had Good Life nut cutlets which were 1.99 for four frozen from Ocado. Cutlet is a bit of a misnomer because they are round and although quite thin, are big. We had one each, 15.2g carbs, not organic but additive free and vegetarian. Both liked them a lot and 1.99 very good price.
I'd posted the Riverford-gousto-like-box details on here the other week, pay attention at the back
I may try the nut 'cutlets' on my next order then. (I always think if a meat eater eats a veggie item it must be fairly tasty!).
I've just sent the M&S link to my friend, looks good selection.
I have to confess to going in there today to pick up a skirt and got some additive free ready made nutty salads and Moroccan houmous and a reduced whole pineapple for £1 I didn't plan to buy..0 -
Sorry Mistress Kirri...:o;)
OH chuckled about the nut cutlets remark, said he enjoyed those but not looking forward to the nut luncheon stuff.
He had the rest of the Morrisons Signature wild Alaskan smoked salmon (100g 4.99) today and he too preferred it to the Sainsbury's TTD wild Alaskan. So that's looking like the favourite for Christmas..
Marks and Spencer has a dietary assessment tool and I couldn't resist having a go. It told me I eat too many cakes and pastries which has me puzzled because I don't eat ANY. :rotfl:
I got told that I eat too much dairy (15.9% of my diet). A Canadian diabetes researcher told me that I should eat more dairy so I do.
Eating low carb (3.19% of my diet) is too few carbs according to the assessment. But for someone with diabetes and mostly normal blood glucose now I'm not going to add 30% more carbs lol.
I was really surprised by how much veg I eat, it was over 40%. Granted I eat some sort of salad almost every day for lunch Mon-Fri but yup was surprised.
Husband is avid meat eater but strangely his two favourite meals are both veggie - potato yahni and pot au feu. Am trying to up number of veggie dinners and it's working as didn't get told I eat too much meat.0 -
I have a recommendation, the Clive's organic minty chickpea pie from Ocado £2.84, had a week's use by date - I really liked this!
Bit expensive compared to what I could make one for... but useful for times when I haven't got time to cook, like this week.
Vegan/GF/Organic. I thought it was really filling, bit too filling for me but I did have a nut/grain salad I had to eat up with it... and normally am not really a pie/pastry fan but pastry was nice and light compared to 'normal' pastry and filling very tasty, good flavour.
Added the Aloo Gobi one on my next order to try. Ocado stock 5 varieties. Not looked yet to see if they are stocked in supermarkets.0 -
Just had to have a go at the M&S health assessment...
Got told to double my carbs (I thought I ate loads)
Have to reduce fats by two thirds (I've had slice of cake and mini G&B bar each day..)
Told to double my dairy intake for calcium (was down to 1 yoghurt most days and some butter) but should easily be able to get calcium from veg.
My F&V is higher than the recommended amount but no surprise there being veggie
Told to eat less protein, halve it in fact..
I might note down what I eat to see if it's any more accurate over the next week.0 -
Recommendation from The Husband..
Seeds of Change organic Indian-style pilau rice with lentils and chickpeas.
Hot n spicy very tasty, organic (Soil Association certified), vegetarian and suitable for those avoiding wheat (but maybe not coeliacs because of possible cross-contamination) and microwaveable .
I bought several different types for him in 99p Stores.
That's the problem with these one size fits all diet assessments Kirri, they won't take into account things like vegan diets or low carb.
Husband has tried the Clive's cassoulet pie (he lurves cassoulet), but said it was nothing like it. Neither of us liked their classic houmous either. He did like the passion cake 1.75 - we got all of them from Ocado.
Not organic, contains yeast and gluten but made with spring water, additive free, fermented in oak barrels and much-loved by beer drinkers.. Marston's Pedigree ale 500ml bottles 2 for £3 at Iceland saving £10 -
ASDA
Ambrosia organic creamed rice 400g 3 for £2
Sainsbury's
Heinz Classics organic cream of tomato soup 4 for £3
Sainsbury's SO organic British beef mince 500g 2 for £60 -
