2011 Wimbledon and 2013 Aussie Open tennis champion Novak Djokovic (and mmmm he's fit in all senses of the word) is on a gluten and dairy free diet because of allergies. Still can't believe he lost to Murray in straight sets :(

Kirri weird to me that you're told not to give your piggies strawberries as they are one of the few fruits which I can eat which WON'T put my blood glucose up. I figure it's the fibre eg all those seeds.

Really, I just don't see that in him!

Strawberries weren't mentioned, just all fruit and sweet veg ie toms and carrots I think, can't remember the rest. They do have odd bits of fruit though and I was thinking about the strawberries not affecting blood glucose in humans, no idea if they are the same though.

Was out an an event today and saw an organic tofu burger on a veg catering van menu :D

Not being a vet/zoologist I have to say I wouldn't want to hazard a guess about the dis/similarities between human and animal pancreatic functions but mice are used in experiments to prove diabetes drugs work.

OH and I have been adding to global warning tonight by grilling Sainsbury's SO organic beefburgers on a Tesco disposable BBQ (£2) BBQing them def gave more flavour.

Waitrose Garden currently has 1/3rd off all Duchy Originals seeds

Been painting trellis and helping OH put up the pergola (finally) :D

tori.k sorry to hear that OH has has bad news. Have to say that for many people saying you shouldn't eat XYZ immediately creates a craving.

Organic doesn't necessarily mean lower carb, I should point out. Sometimes products can be artificially lower carb because they have so much !!!! in them eg fillers and sweeteners. But it's really not difficult to do lower carb organic.

This is the ideal weather to be getting him into sparkling water with slices of lemon, dressings of olive oil with cider vinegar, higher nutritional leaves like watercress, rocket and spinach.. steaks, high meat content burgers/sausages, cottage cheese, Mozzarella, olives, small cherry tomatoes.. strawberries with loads of cream..

Where is everybody ? To quote Delia..let's be 'aving yer !

Sainsbury's had Simply Delicious organic mayo for £1 yesterday saving 59p. Large Higgidy quiches sans additives were on offer at £3 as well.

Riverford British organic cherries are totally fantastic at the moment :T and their organic courgette trio pack cheaper than Sainsbos.

I have flowers on my runner beans :D soo excited. Herbs doing really well and having them in salads mmm.

Hope everyone well, not too frazzled by kids xxx

Oops been over on the freezer thread :o

Have you managed to keep the blackfly off? Been awful this year.. I had the Riverford courgettes but am now overloaded with my own! Mostly eating my own veg now, lots of herbs too and beetroot, onions, potatoes, carrots etc. Am trying the Riverford raspberries this week for a treat and still having to buy some salad though.

The Rude Health early bird crispy muesli from A&C is really good, my favourite of 3 muesli's I've had so far.

Loads of very good Ecover offers on Ocado at the mo.

Thanks Kirri will have a look at undersink cupboard at Ecover stockpile thanks cos have Ocado delivery Friday.

Nope, no blackfly but have had slugs eww. Home-grown courgettes mmm.. I didn't get act together early enough to do much this year. I will have home-grown figs n grapes later though. Must say I'm excited that I managed to grow Duchy Originals organic sweet basil from seed. My mother is awash with runner bean flowers but few beans yet.

If you're a Riverford customer you can vote for vegman/lady of the year by 5th August see this week's leaflet.

The cardoon flowers at £1 each are great :)

Does anyone shop in Waitrose for their organic fruit and veg? I have been for a couple of years now and find that they have a pretty good range, the biggest range of good quality organic out of the supermarkets. I wish they did organic green leafy veg like Kale but they don't :( even when it is in season. Their apples and pears are lovely though. Their organic frozen sweetcorn is lovely and sweet too.
