Organic food in supermarkets

Agas sound lovely and great for heating, but actually not very practical. You can't turn the heat up to finish a dish and you can't make toast without buying a gadget. But the coal/log burning ones are fantastic for heating.
We lived in a cottage with an Aga for awhile. It dominated the tiny kitchen and in the summer the kitchen would get so hot that my mother would cook in her bra with the top bit of the stable door open !
How's this for Ocado service.. I was having probs viewing the Ocado website and it went all teeny tiny. Just Ocado, every other website was fine. So I called customer services and asked for ideas. Ocado called me back today with a suggestion (which worked).
Thank you Ocado :T
Well done Ocado!
Yep, I like the idea of huddling up to an Aga in the winter, probably having to fight my way past the dogs and cats to get to it....but they are expensive to run and can make things unbearable in the summer. It's amazing how many kitchens in cookery progs have an Aga but no one ever cooks on them, they just seem to be for show. Quite like the look of the Neff ovens where the door slides out of the way. Anybody got one?
Riverford have finally taken payment for last week's box. Think if I order this week it will be the mini or small box as the medium has the dreaded fennel in it (sorry, I know lots of you love it!)0 -
If you're struggling to find organic kale, have you tried raw kale chips from Inspiral http://shop.inspiralled.net/product-category/raw-food-kale-chips/ ?
We love the cacao and cinnamon, can't vouch for the other flavours, we haven't tried them.0 -
One of my fave London shops, As Nature Intended, just sent a newsletter for their new online service, is mostly non food however (whereas the shop is mostly food). Free delivery over £30. I'll probably continue to use the shop though as I go there for food products I struggle to get elsewhere.

My Belvoir Organic lemonade arrived from Amazon this morning, will have some tonight and post how it was. I hope it's good as I've got 24 bottles of it now!
I've made a pot of organic leek and potato soup this morning too0 -
Not sure if it has already been mentioned but today I got sainsbury's organic mature cheddar from the cheese counter, on offer at 66p for 100g (usually 99p for 100g)0

Thank you savingmonkey, will have to have a nosey at the counter in sainsburys.
Belvoir organic lemonade is nice, refreshing and subtle. It doesn't taste as sweet as Luscombe, although I think Lusbombe has more of a punchy flavour.0 -

Riverford order done and for the first time in ages no Homity pies or ham and leek tarts  Have ordered wild garlic, salad pack, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, celery, hummus and ciabatta though.
OH whinged and said he wanted rolls. I went: "Whaaaaat !!!" as he had scoffed 12 Hovis wholemeal rolls (Hovis I know but his choice) in a week  Riverford doesn't do rolls in my area so he'll have to do without and take sweet potatoes to zap in the office microwave and slather in butter (such hardship). :rotfl:
Soo.. how is everybody ? Anyone planned their first organic BBQ yet ?? Er I need to go buy one first0 -
No pies, tarts or rolls?! Can't say a sweet potato would do it for me in comparison!
The salad packs from both Riverford and A&C have been excellent. Wasn't overly keen on the flat beans from A&C last week but then I'm comparing against picking my own and eating straight away. Everything else was good though, just about used it all.. bar the cabbage and salsify.
I've ordered from Riverford and A&C this week. Medium veg box from Riverford (potatoes, onions, cauli, portobello mushrooms, wild garlic, baby spinach, bunched carrots, parsley, fennel, vine toms, salad pack, cucumber), and added fruit, herbs, soysages, haloumi, dried pulses, eggs, cheddar.
Cheaper week next week.. maybe just a salad box. Will start getting a few bits off the allotment next week too.
Btw Waitrose have 10% off chilled juice with a MyWaitrose card and as the Grove OJ is still on offer that makes it quite cheap. Sainsbury's have some new Ecover offers (though I prefer money off one item rather than buy 2 to get it cheaper).0 -
