His own fault, he ate twelve rolls and a sourdough loaf in a week.
I've got parsley, chives, Lebanese mint, common or garden mint and chocolate mint in the garden atm and alliums coming up plus buds on my fig trees.
Here's a possibly useful book found on Oxfam..

Today I got Twinings Organic English Breakfast tea in the 99p shop - 80 bag pack. Dated April 2013.0

wow first time this thread wasn't on the first page for a while- back from my hols last night and I thought I had sorted a veg box to arrive the same day we got back. Turned out I actually ordered from farmaround and riverford oppps so I now have 2 large veg boxes to get through. Although seeing them side by side you get a lot more from farmaround.
On a downside the courgette was disgusting I have never tasted it so horrid to be honest it tasted a bit chemically??
I then ended up in t's and bagged some yellow stickered organic cucumbers at 19p each, they had loads of cabbages too but i'd already got a couple in the veg boxes.0 -
It/s the Bank Holiday we're obviously in the pool on the lilo with a Mojito.. or not, in my case ! Try pruning, weeding, painting, and checking out the this weekend only special offers online
For lunch today we had a yellow stickered half leg of Duchy Originals lamb out the freezer which OH raved about, accompanied by celeriac, fennel and onion mash with organic beef gravy powder made up with lamb juices.. bit salty.. plus carrots.
lindseykim13 hope you had a great vacation ! I sometimes think some cucumbers taste weird like that as well. I like the Riverford ones best.
kirri you must go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer at once cos right now in the films section there is a movie called G-Force about a top team of trained guinea pigs who fight to rid the world of a diabolical billionaire. That surely must be the first g-piggy action movie huh ?0 -
I cut up the fennel from the veg box and stir fried it, I was told you can eat it raw too.
I had Taifun tofu which is very tasty, fennel and a packet of organic red kidney beans along with a little cheese for dinner.
Trying to get a balanced meal!
I have another piece of fennel and celeriac to use up, I had two of the carrots last night as a snack with greek yoghurt. By the time I got round to eating the last courgette it wasn't looking great.
I loved Mr Organics baked beans, I tried a can of Waitrose organic baked beans but really didn't like them.
I got some organic eggs but there is no certification on the box, just says organic eggs. Tried them today, they don't taste nice at all.
I liked the organic courgettes I had apart from the last one as I didn't have it quickly enough, I hope I don't get chemically tasting ones in the future.0 -
lindseykim, couldn't imagine eating through 2 large veg boxes in a week!
Edwardia - I've never seen that! There was one in the Dr Doolitle Eddie Murphy film tooMine have been demanding Riverford salad pack this morning..
sophlowe - fennel is very good in risotto too, I use it in quite a few ways. Maybe look at getting a few good cookery books for general meal inspiration? I usually prefer world food cookery books myself but I re-dug out my HFW Veg book last week and now I've given up Quorn (might still have the odd thing in the future but this year I've not bought it) the recipes in that seem much more inspirational.
After the Nigel Slater dahl which I'm going to do again this week with the added cauli from the veg box, I bulk cooked HFW's lentil dahl for the freezer then did a big pot of all the odds and ends in the kitchen into a pasta sauce, again gone in the freezer, as I wanted to use up last week's box before a new one arrived.
Had a medium veg box from Riverford this week and it was by far my most favourite selection yet! I wish I'd tried the wild garlic before as now I'm hooked on that in risotto.
I had a large spider run across the floor just after it had been delivered so not sure if that came as an extra, it looked a bit dazed as though it had been 'chilled'
Had few new bits to try this week including soysages and dried pulses from A&C.
Oh and had to go in Asda last week - to pick up some stuff for someone else - and it was HELL compared to having my weekly org delivery.0 -
Yes I have been to Asda, never again lol.0
-
Also noticed that Asda's price for YV yoghurt pots (the 4 small ones) is more than A&C. Some things may get cheaper when on offer but I will probably rarely step inside a supermarket now, seems pointless to mostly pay more and having to actually go in with the queues/people to put up with let alone carry it home.
Could do with some cheap Ecover though..0 -
The sweet potatoes I had went bad, just thrown them away, am disappointed as normally sweet potatoes last for a long time (in the fridge).
I'm impressed with Sainsburys Organic frozen peas, delicious.
And since I started drinking Clipper tea I notice the difference in taste with other teabags.
I've finally clicked that tastier olive oil means I don't want to use mayonnaise or so much ketchup. Mayonnaise is 80% sunflower oil!
Finished the Taifun tofu, it was amazing.0 -
My nearest sainsburys doesn't stock their organic frozen peas, I was quite disappointed when I went looking for them.
I struggling to find a nice organic mayo. We used to buy hellmanns. I first bought sainsburys organic which was lovely , mustardy too, but it's 30+ miles away so I don't get there very often to get more. I bought some of Tesco organic and it's horrible, OH refused to eat it so I had to buy some Hellmanns. I'll have to use up the Tesco one here and there.
Any recommendations please?0
