" Many of our suppliers are finding it increasingly difficult " blah blah

Basically Ocado allows GM cereal feed for Ocado free range chicken, Ocado duck, chickens producing Ocado eggs. No mention of whether they allow it for non-organic meat.

^ I'd rather it tasted like parsnip than artichoke!

    I like this para:

The most surprising thing about salsify, the first time you eat it, is its flavor. Traditionally it is called “oyster plant,” a name as inaccurate as it is unappetizing. The roots taste nothing like oysters, and nothing like parsnips either. They taste like artichoke hearts — unlike the so-called Jerusalem artichokes that are said to taste like artichokes but don’t.

    :rotfl:

Will have to consult a few cookbooks for this one I think!

Sound lovely but how many in a packet please ? Have a feeling these wouldn't last long in this house.

They won't last long here either with just me eating them..
    12 in a pack, 150g, £2.75. I've had 4 already :o

Popped into Waitrose on way home and got to try some non organic but additive free bread from Bertinet bakery. The olive was good and the orange and hazelnut was gorgeous. Think a lot of Waitrose branches are stocking it and I can recommend.

Waitrose also have a good range of Willie's chocolate as mentioned above. Again, not organic but unadulterated and very good.

^ Fantastic selection in that medium box! All relatively 'easy eating' stuff, I don't like it when there are too many heavy going types of veg in the same box. Just had a look on Riverford but not sure if the contents have changed over yet but I really fancy the medium veg box next week. It's showing bunched carrots and parsley at the mo for that box and the gpigs LOVE these. Though I had already half chosen the A&C small fruit and veg box next week... anyone else have trouble deciding each week?! Will decide by midweek when I see what I have left from this week. We've eaten about £27.50 worth of fruit and veg this past week which is rather a lot given I'm skint.. (though maybe slightly more justified given I don't eat/buy meat).

I keep changing the box each week, this week I'm trying the Medium Gourmet from A&C, due to include:

    Flat beans
    Aubergine
    Portobello mushrooms
Avocado - skipped this, not sure what I will get instead
    Broccoli
    Red cabbage
    Red pepper
    Vine tomatoes

Added on salad pack and cucumber, partly for the gpigs, but I'll share. Also the hoisin (on offer), tofu, eggs, some fruit and household items. Oh and some of the lemon and white choc biscuits :o I did notice they have cinder toffee too which I will have to try now I've spotted it as I love this!

I change my box every week, especially with Riverford where you can't substitute. I like most fruit and veg but there are one two things I really don't like and no one else in the house will eat either so no point having a box that includes them.

I find the A&C Baby & Toddler box quite a good choice when I just want a few things even though I no longer have babies or toddlers :rotfl:

Edwardia can you help with with clarifying which eggs are from non GM fed hens? I eat a lot of eggs as simple and filling.

Waitrose own brand, organic eggs and some others?

GM food is banned in organic systems so any certified organic eggs should do.

Mojisola hits nail on head re: organic = no GM. According to this article in The Grocer on 12 April, Waitrose still not allowing GM feed for laying hens.

    http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/fmcg/fresh/sainsburys-ms-and-the-co-op-follow-tescos-lead-on-gm-feed/238400.article

So basically your choice is organic or Waitrose.

Actually it was all their poultry lines that are still being excluded from GM feed, not just eggs :)

I was reading The Grocer article and the website page but the website page maybe hasn't been updated yet ???

Guess the best thing to do is email Waitose and ask. Supermarkets don't know shoppers are concerned unless we tell them right ? ;)

Got an email from Ocado this week, which promises one new recipe on their website every day.. for the next seven years ! :D

Back to housework for me..was sorting out of order DVDs and found we hadn't even unwrapped seven of them :o That's our Viewing Pleasure sorted for this evening then :)
