New Wilkinson website https://www.wilko.com muchly improved from previous version.

Ecover Under the Sun fabric conditioner 750ml is 1.83 as a normal price, saving 17p per bottle on Tesco and Ocado price.

DP Soda Crystals 1kg are £1 (same price as Ocado) However if you live near The Range or can bung them in an order, they are 89p at The Range. https://www.therange.co.uk

Wilkinson has a trigger action soda crystal spray as well as a vinegar one

Not sure, 70+ pages into this thread, whether I have mentioned Labour and Wait, which is a household goods shop in East London. It does mail order as well. Labour and Wait sells the sort of household items such as your great grandmother would recognise, although it's only been around since 2000.

£20 may sound a lot for an aluminum dustpan and brush, but how many plastic ones will get chewed by the dog (or even the kids), get trodden on and cracked etc. The aluminum one will just keep going.

Not everything in the shop is expensive although  at the Savon de Marseille prices.

Some interesting products I've not seen in the shop.

The Ecover UTS f/conditioner has been down to £1.25.

I get the soda crystals (I think, the green pack?) mainly for the sink plughole/sometimes in with a white wash, but think they are usually 90p in Morrisons etc?

Like the sound of that L&W website, will have a nose.

My local Wilkinson is quite small but there's a bigger one in a nearby town with two floors so hopefully I can get some stuff there.

Anyway, after setting up my mini greenhouses (er if that's mini I'm severely vertically challenged without realising it) OH was bored so he went to ASDA and to my utter amazement he found the ASDA Eco-Friendly range which britta44 mentioned :T

The ASDA Eco-Friendly toilet cleaner is 750ml for 1.50. The other trigger spray products are all 1.48 for 500ml - there's a bathroom spray, kitchen hob spray and a multi surface spray. It will be a while before I get to report on them though as I have Ecover or Bentleys products to use first.

Kirri - yes the DP bag is green although on The Range website it's white - old photo ? I will have a look in Morries at some point thanks.

There is a deal on Ecover :T in Tesco - buy 2 for £2.50 or £3.00

Kirri - last time I was in Tkmaxx (3 weeks ago) I bought Weleda Calendula and Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner for £4.99 each (RRP 8.95), my colleague lives in North London and she often buys Burts Bees, Weleda, Douvall's Oils and even Ecoballs for around 1/3 of RRP in Home Sense (which it seems is a branch of TKmaxx but with furniture, toiletries, kitchen gadgets etc) http://www.homesense.com

I've read that you can soak fruit/veg in water&vinegar solution for around 10 minutes as vinegar helps to kill bacteria (it is even better to heat the vinegar and water solution to 40 C).

Edwardia - few months ago I bought in Cleaner Sanitiser from Wheelers Natural and Traditional Cleaners (also in Tkmaxx ;) and it is good and smells ok. Their webpage beewaxed . com does not work but you can find their products on: http://www.homecareessentials.co.uk/acatalog/Wheelers_Natural_Products.html?gclid=CICOjZODyLYCFdHMtAod5DEAdg

Love some of the Weleda products, and some do score highly in the Beauty Bible series, including the 'green' book and 'beauty steals' app. Toothpaste I use Aloe Dent which is part of the British Aloe Pura range. Mouthwash rank, toothpaste minty gel-ish.

Since stopping SLS toothpastes my lips are less dry, which actually was not the reason nor the expectation! But it does make me wonder exactly what damage was being done to my gums. I've seen the research on regular skin so ...

I'm not anti fluoride having had fluoride tablets as a child. Both my sibling and I had our first cavities in our thirties (one late, one early) and both admit less than optimal dental hygiene for a period before that - in my case prescribed meds/ dry mouth. I will say tho we also had a healthier childhood diet than average, so the case is not clear cut.

Not sure if most people are aware but plaque bacteria feed on starchy carbs not just sugars, that is why our pets get cavities.

Sophlowe: don't know Dooleys which is not telling in itself, I am not knowlegable on this vast county. :o

alfsmum - tried frying eggs with coconut oil and made me feel ick but great body moisturiser, amazing on dry feet and as after sun soother.
Think it was bornintoit who recommended coconoil ? One I tried as parachute and non organic.

Have tried non organic beef dripping, lard, duck fat, goose fat as well and although I'm pleased I tried them, in the end I decided I wanted an organic less processed solution.

I use Netherend Farm organic ghee (clarified butter) for omelettes mmm but Fire Fox will probably go  which I get from Spices of India. OH likes so much he will plaster over anything  and also use organic Extra Virgin olive oil most of the time. I don't care whether it's great quality oil for cooking as long as it doesn't add a weird taste. We don't deep fry.

Coconoil (if you mean the brand coconoil) is pretty horrid, it tastes and smells like Vaseline and is really heavy and ugh. I bought two tubs as part of a bulk buying group and wish I hadn't. I really think people who haven't tried anything else just assume that is what good coconut oil is like, but it isn't. Even the cheap KTC stuff is far more pleasant. I tried biona before that and it was incredible, a bit more runny/oily in the jar and the texture is inconsistent (a bit like ghee) but very light for cooking it does have a stronger coconut flavour but its lovely and fresh and when melted it completely vanishes away. I haven't tried frying eggs with it but I have tried frying various vegan sausages and used it as a base for curries etc and its lovely. I also found the bigger jar (sadly not as widely available) lasted for much much longer than the similar size of coconoil. When I finally finish this jar of coconoil I am going back to biona. Xx
