I don't normally post, but I am totally hacked off having to chase prizes.
I have had to chase 6 in the past 5 days, mainly from large companies, but the best one was today, when I was told that a comp in a Magazine daily (which I diligently entered every day) never existed!

Rant over and it feels good letting it out

Ooooh sorry to hear that, you must be really disappointed.

As I posted above I cannot be doing with these magazine dailies and your story above cements that even more.

If you post in the IWIWIW forum some kind MSE'r maybe able to help you out in proving them wrong and help in getting your prize.
    Good luck

People who bully and harass about the same old comping issues, instead of respecting forum users enough to just agree to disagree.

Comps where the terms and conditions don't matc the prize description. I entered one tonght that was advertised as "win tickets to alton towers scarefest 2012" but the T&C clearly state the tickets are for 2013 season and not for any soecial seasonal events. So not scarefest 2012 then?!!

Most of mine have been mentioned, but I can add this: people who post threads for holiday comps here and don't specify how many people they're for, or for how long. (Though to be fair, some of the actual comps don't give these details either, and I don't enter those.) It usually means that I have to trawl through the link and the T&Cs to discover that it's for one or two people (we are a family of 3), or it's for 2 nights across the country so that we'd spend more time (and money) travelling there than we would at the actual location. I often also have to look up where the holiday place is in the UK. Like I'd be expected to know where Grange Hall, Upper Piddle is or something. (In the USA, where I grew up, everyone tells you the state as well as the town, unless it's New York City etc -- that doesn't seem to have ever caught on here for some reason.)

Oh, and people who bump old comp threads which I enter without thinking, then realise I'd already entered them before and ticked "thanks". My brain doesn't always fire on all cylinders :)
  • Another I thought of relating to forums is people who do not bother to read threads. For example the original post will show the answer and 2 hours later someone will post the same answer.

Also people who will ask a question yet if they bothered to read the thread the answer to the question will already have been posted. Sadly see this quite regular on these boards and it drives me potty! :-(

I love a good rant thread! My pet peeves are:

    1) sites that make you register/log in, and then ask you to fill in your address details every time (e.g. Delia Online) - why do you need them if I've registered?

    2) FB vote for me comps; they bring out the worst in people. "I'd like to win this bottle of shower gel because my house has fallen down, I'm an orphan and my gerbil's just died." It's like the Monty Python Yorkshiremen sketch, over the most ridiculously small prizes.

    3) Sorry, you haven't won, but here's 5% off our widget emails.

    4) When you mention to someone that you've won something, and they tell you how lucky you must be, because they never win competitions (because they never enter them).

    5) Offline comps with a pre-selected lucky code/voucher/token hidden in a pack somewhere. I suspect that the promoters like these because often they don't have to give away a prize at all, like the Covent Garden Soup farm competition. They should just draw a winner from the entries they receive, that's the fairest way.
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j

Mine is Captchas, I have to often refresh them as they are so muddled I have no idea what to type, and then when I do decode the riddle 9 times out of 10 it wont submit argh!

Oh and my other pet hate is answering a survey which takes a good 10 mins plus and at the end it submits without asking you for details to be entered into the prize draw, thats soooooooooo annoying!

Apart from those two pet hates I love comping :-) :j

Have just remembered - The sob stories!

Do people really think that they make a difference? It's random draw for all that is holy!

In fact I think we should have a thread for ridiculous sob stories :D

I love the sob stories, lol. If people are putting effort into coming up with those, they aren't entering other comps! The best ones are on some of the radio comps - Heart and Capital. Some people seem to have TERRIBLE lives though. I like how some people put witty ones on there too.

This thread is great. So many little things which irritate me, it's nice to share in the frustration :)

I hate it when you have loads of tick boxes at the bottom and have to read the tiny print sometimes twice because the way it is worded is often to done deliberately to trick us out!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea
