Needs to be slimming (we're both on Slimming World) or something like the boiled orange cake that I can take into work! I don't eat marmalade but OH does so I might try that on him - how do you make it? Is it like Jam?

    Marmalade

I'm going to add your post onto the thread that PP linked to - it helps keep all these ideas in one place.

    Good luck :)

Anything I can do with satsumas that don't get eaten in our house

SkintCatt asked about banana loaf type thingey but with satsumas. I've loked thro he threads but haven't found any ideas as I have the same 'problem' (here in Spain we're knee deep in oranges etc at the moment)
Not fond of marmalade and have made the Nigella clementine cake several times and it's scrummy but a tad expensive using all those eggs and ground almonds.

Could we just substitute oranges for bananas in banana loaf, would they have to be boiled first as in nigella's recipe

  • hello everyone!

i got three bags of satsumas at the weekend and they are not as nice and juicy as i hoped...

so... i am trying to think of ways of cooking them to use them up!

the only idea i have come up with is a variation on pineapple upside down pudding (but there are only two of us so will only make one)

does anyone have any ideas what i can make with the rest?

    many thanks :D

    loki x

oh that looks so tasty!!! we love banana bread so this would go down a treat! not sure if i have the correct type of tin though... what would you do? i was thinking bung it in a normal tin using greaseproof - do you think this would work?

do you think i could cook the fruit in slow cooker overnight?

I reckon it would be fine in any kind of cake tin, so long as you greased and floured it well to prevent sticking - if you have a sillicone mould that would probably work best, but otherwise aluminium or whatever you have should be ok. Slow cookers I don't know about, so I'll leave that question for someone else!
