this is an open forum though and if someone had posted something about me and one of my friends saw it here I'd expect them to point it out to me too, like lady noluck did, although I don't think she needed to post pm's on here, after she had mentioned it to this manager it should have been up to him to come on and defend himself if needed.
not a newbie now: but still be gentle with me0 -
If you overheard someone to the bus stop complaining about a gym would you take it upon yourself to question the person and report the story back to the gym?
It's not something i would do.
Lady noLuck could have openly asked on here which gym, queried if any alternative sessions had been given and given her opinion on the matter on this thread.
I see no reason to deceive someone in a PM with a view to telling the people concerned about something which is none of her business.
i agree though it was upto the bloke at the gym to come on here (if he wished) to tell his version of events- it wasn't upto Lady noluck.0 -
Well Karl, since at least one part of what you wrote ( 'told they haven't thought their opinions through') obviously refers to what I wrote earlier, I'm sure you wont mind if I come back to make something clear.
Firstly, I don't know if you realise this, but your comments above are actually insulting. To suggest that a poster gets a certain kind of reply purely because of the number of posts they have is the same as suggesting that my reply is just a tit for tat one because the poster was a newbie.
If Ivan (who I'm sure wont mind me making an example of) had said the same things as mickey, then he would have got the same reply from me.
I haven't commented on this thread up until now as I've seen both sides and think that it's an unfortunate incident which is best blown over BUT I felt mickey's post was unfair and has crossed a line IN MY OPINION. Mickey wasn't so much concerned with the actual topic of the thread but preferred to question the original poster's parenting skills and pick on her choice to send her child to a gym in the first place. Those points were not relevant in any way to the thread. The topic was about the way a person was treated by someone else.
THAT is why I commented on mickey's post and for no other reason.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Maybe Mickey was offended when told he hadn't thought his post through? Maybe he'd been up all night thinking it through.
The point is, sometimes people are judged rapidly through guesswork and impressions, just as Mickey was, and just as the gym owner was. Maybe not judged wrongly in long run, but who's to know? Will there ever be a boy born who can swim faster than a shark?0 -
if I miss a week at slimming world I generally have to pay. I am allowed two "free" week in every six month period to cover illness and holiday, however I can always attend another "class" in the area or even out of the area by arrangement. I can stop attending and restart with a rejoin fee if I am going to miss more than two weeks.
things like that are all about commitment. the overhead costs are there regardless of if you turn up or not and by not attending you've possibly deprived another child of a place.
you've been offered an alternative which also didnt meet your requirements so now by a gesture of goodwill you've been offered a refund. hoorah.
pm's and other sacred information being made public? happens alllllll the time. fol.Blah0 -

Very good point Fran - I do not think people were having a go so much as being slightly jocular - and I think Ivan takes most things in good part.
I agree p.m.'s should not be made public and also that there can be two sides to a story while regretting the o.p.'s distress.
I take the view that if someone makes a grown woman cry - then how do they treat others?"This site is addictive!"
