My grandmother used Izal and once I had a lot of homework to do that weekend and left my tracing paper at home and used a couple of Izal sheets for my maths homework!

Never got a telling off from the teacher even it has Izal stamped on it!

I have always used Andrex for years, but noticed the rolls are not as full as they use to be and like the OP said the paper seems thinner, plus the price keeps going up. Last week I got some Velvet and it seems ok and picked up some more today in a small shop in town 4 rolls for £1.59 which is much cheaper than Andrex so wil try Velvet and save a few pennies.

I get Sainsburys own brand now (though there are a few rolls with sheets that do not line up sometimes) since noticing a quality drop in Andrex - mainly that it just tore on use having become thinner. Must be around 9 months to a year ago. I haven't tried Nicky or Floralys yet.

Kleenex mansize are rougher too, so abandoned that brand as well. :)

I used to get Sainsburys ones, they are rough now and fall apart too easy! So went back to Andrex and it was much better in quality! Maybe I'm lucky?!

Little girl runs into the living room crying and holding a finger in the air, "Mummy, Mummiiiiiiy!"

Mother says, "Come here darling, and let Mummy kiss it better".

She kisses finger and asks, "What happened, dear?"

    "Went through the paper!"

I think we can probably trace the sharp decline in quality to the time they switched the excellent LIVE lab puppy to those ridiculous CGI lab puppies in the adverts...
i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour

We buy Nicky, but have to say I find it a bit harsh! I tried a pack from Iceland, four for a £ think it was called Petal that seemed a lot softer. About a year ago my OH wrote to Andrex saying that the quality didn't seem as good and we got quite a few vouchers........for Andrex!

For a long while now (years) all toilet rolls have been of inferior quality, powdery (on the floor under the roll), thinner and have a good look at how big the cardboard roll is these days compared to years ago. Makes the roll look as big because the actual cardboard roll is much much bigger!
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

Yes, and since buying Nicky have noticed how dusty the bathroom gets.
