That's the best idea here. I think most people who get brassed off by the Professional Claimants do so because they believe that the benefit payoff is being taken straight down to Currys and spent on a 50" LCD TV.

It benefits were dished out in the form of food/utility vouchers, perhaps there might be less cause for resentment. No idea how that would even be possible to manage though.

For a start vouchers would be a nightmare to administer, and VERY expensive.

I'm not sure Currys have shops anymore...;), they get these from the no credit checks shops on the high street....

Or people don't buy them in the first place......
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

There is nothing stopping companies offering more than the minimum wage now if you removed minimum wage all that would happen is that wages would go down.

Of course there isn't, but what incentive is there for them to do so when everyone is paying the same?

most people here playing straight into the Tories hands - divide and rule strategy game playing.

Nonsense. What would you prefer? A socialist utopia where we are all paid exactly the same? Because it works so well in Cuba where there's 100% employment, everyone has exactly the same wage and no one can afford to buy loo roll.

To get and retain better staff. If there was no minimum wage what incentive would there be to pay the minimum wage if you can get people to work for less.

Firms pay minimumwage because they can get people to work for it if they could pay less and still get people to work for that they would.

Our crazy benefits system allows employers to pay below market rates.

I was talking about the workshy. And there are many more claiming dla than actually are entitled to it. Hence why the government are re assessing their entitlement. Those people, together with families with 3 kids plus on the take, kids born purely for supplemental benefits and those on long term unemployment benefit are scummers in my eyes.

    Contradicting your earlier statement then....

DLA figures for fraud are very low. And that's coming from DWP.

Not all people who are sick get or claim DLA.

No one likes the shirkers of society. But to tar all sick and disabled with the same brush is nothing but pure ignorance. Your posts come across as very bitter and twisted.
"Divide and rule" nonsense. They do have a voice, who thinks pays for their votes at the election? Labour would never get into power if higher rate tax payers had two votes.

They may have a voice, but don't want to use it for fear of being treated as scummers by people like you. I agree there is a divide and rule culture by the government. And on these forums. The disabled against the abled, the workers against the non workers. And just because someone is long term unemployed, doesn't mean they haven't been looking.

As for the vouchers idea. Which shops would be able to take them? You know, people need electical items too. Not just food. What clothes shops would take them? Yes, they need to be able to buy clothing too. So in effect you'd be happy for curries to take them to buy a cooker but not a tv? Mental!

I certainly don't have all the answers but the ideas some of you are coming out with are well and truly bonkers.

If they stopped all benefits then rents and house prices would fall a long way, they are propped up by high housing benefit payments and high interest on mortgages still being paid for longer than the 18month period. Some people have been on low earnings for a lot longer than 18months and get their mortgage interest paid just the same as housing benefit. If all these benefits were just cut just like that then there would be record repossessions and house prices would correct 50% or more.

You do not get your mortgage interest paid if you are on low earnings.

That's taking the debate a bit far. I haven't seen anyone making these sorts of claims.

And anyway, we practically have a socialist system with the low waged workers needing benefits to keep a roof over their heads!

And I personally dislike lib/lab/cons equally. There's hardly anything that differentiates them these days...

There is now a housing benefit cap that is about to come into effect as well as a 'bedroom' tax.

Hopefully, it will lower house prices as the way I see it, external factors aside, our housing prices are crippling our economy.

You only have to see how the second largest group of benefit claimants are the low waged who need benefits now because they can't afford to keep a roof over their heads.
