that should be it. from Jan 1st, stop ALL benefits.
then, set up offices staffed by doctors, and people can queue up for handouts. If the doctors think they can last another few days, they should be told to go.
if not, they should be given a cereal bar.
the end.

Only works if you stop paying taxes too.
Then more employers can recruit without worrying about the NI contributions they have to pay. Whilst we're at it let there be no minimum wage either then it is survival of the fittest. Charities can do the work of the councils -looking after those disadvantaged in the workplace and there will be more jobs available with lower wages.
Need to think through this more:o...0 -
My problem is not with terribly handicapped people. my problem is with the thousands of "bad backs" and "depressed people" that cannot prove their illness, and other layabouts.
I would happily double the benefits for real disabled people, if the others got nothing.
that said, i have (and do) worked with blind people, deaf people, people in wheelchairs - they have all gotten into work and worked. most people can work - but use their disability as an excuse not to bother.0 -
Interesting idea. Certainly would get the pensioners receiving their old age jobless benefit up in arms.0

sorry how do you define real disabled people?The_White_Horse wrote: »I agree!

i have a back problem that means i have to use a stick to move around because other wise the "badback" as you put it affects my sciatic nerve and the feeling in my left leg, (im not claiming benfits btw im fit to work (atos approved )) however it doesnt mean that i don't have a "real disability" as you put it .

So why did you say ALL benefits, if your problem is not with terribly handicapped people?0 -
How about working tax credits, for low-paid people? Stay or go? Child support - stay or go? Should hospital in-patients (who will increase under your regime) be fed? Shall we kill of housing benefit as well? Statutory sick pay?
Oh no - suddenly it's all not so simple any more...0 -

so you work, so what is the issue?
I wear glasses - that is a disability. without them I can't see anything. YET i have to pay for my own glasses. Why don't i get them free? I probably couldn't work without them. I do a lot of reading.
i might get some horrible NHS thick lenses that hurt my nose - might, as i don't think i even get that. if i want thin lenses for comfort, i have to pay hundreds of pounds, so why can't others. with a bad back for example, pay for their own comfort?0 -
