Hahhahaha! You think that the government give a toss about the sick and vulnerable? You are delusional.0 -
And what about young people who are abused by their parents!!?? This is what I mean by David Cameron not having a bloody clue about everyday real life struggles.
Exactly Mumz2bee and where does he expect those without parents or other families to live? Or all those children who are chucked out of the care system at 16?0 -
Back in years gone by - that is exactly what happened - children stayed on with parents until they could afford to move out - paying rent to parents - my brother and I both did exactly that. I used to cook and help prepare evening meals and do washing for whole family - Mum did ironing. And I cleaned the house once a week or so. That was my way of paying extra due to my low wages of £56/week in 1983. I was 18 and my parents had both died by the time I was 23 so I stayed on with just my brother until I met my OH, been with him 20 years now and 19 of those married. In fact it was actually my brother who gave me the deposit to help us buy our home (bought out my share of family home). He did not have to do that, but he did. And back then rents in our area where very high due to the american air bases and the rates and allowances they go, so rentals were difficult for me back then. Really no different to today is the point I am trying to make.0

I don't think the government are targeting the people you mention. I think they are aiming at the ones who make the lifestyle choice to move out of the family home and let the taxpayer foot the bill."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Children aren't chucked out of the care system at 16 any more and many benefit rules exempt care leavers.
The small minority of young people without families to help them have all the more reason to make themselves independent by being in education or employment.0 -

Ah, right, fair enough poppasmurf. So hopefully councils will still be able to make some sort of discretionary help available for genuinely vulnerable youngsters.

Hopefully, yes. Fortunately the days of asking "are there no prisons, are there no workhouses" are gone.
I'm not saying this present government wouldn't want to go back to those days. They just don't have the backing of the general population to do so!"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
i get angry with the I AM ENTITLED ATTITUDE, I work and pay my taxes and get my child benifit for my two children £130 approx per month. The culture of both parents not working and having everything paid for by me and many others is wrong. If you can't find work then do something for charity i.e work in british heart foundation at least the free money that you get you are putting a little back in the comunity and the wider society. Do this till you find work this will also look good to a pottential employer.0
