I will phone up insurance company again tommorrow and tell them I'm going to see if I can settle this with the third party outside instead of the insurance's getting involved.
the two points mentioned above sounds promising.
I don't think she will admit liabilty though, she didn't admit it when I pulled over and claimed I was in the 3rd lane when I was in the 2nd.
If you were in shock did you report the injury to the police?
You could get 6-8 points if you didn't.0 -

why would I be in the 2nd lane and take the first lane exit. there's two lanes for the 2nd exit. I kept to my lane throughout!
If that's on your paper work as a voluntary excess, expect there to be a further compulsory excess for young drivers of circa £250 to £350 to be included in the policy wording.
Unfortunately roundabout accidents similar to yours tend to be settled 50/50.0 -
Maybe I'm missing something here but if a driver on a roundabout in the 2nd lane is indicating to take the exit then the person in the left hand lane should give way. You give way to vehicles on the right. Also what was she doing indicating right and driving in the left hand lane? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I think you may be misunderstanding 'give priority to traffic approaching from the right'
So if you are travelling round the roundabout in the left hand lane indicating right, you have the right of way?The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
You have a right to carry on in your lane, there is no law to stop you doing that. It may not be correct as far as the highway code is concerned and it may rile other motorists, but any accident while you are merrily pootling around caused by somebody cutting accross from another lane is their fault as the have attempted a manouver without ensuring that it is safe to do so.
Just because it is a roundabout does not mean that normal lane discipline does not apply. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
TUF, you really are doing well in your first few weeks of over confident driving.
I advise you sit back for a while and have a think about your attitude. Is it really worth driving round like a ego maniac to impress the women when its going to cost you so much?
Food for thought.. assuming you're not a troll.0 -
This would probably be found as 50/50 fault. The other driver was in the 1st lane when turning right (which is wrong). And the OP was in the middle lane when turning left. This would depend on the road markings for the individual roundabout.0

The way I understand it, the OP was turning off, and was in the second lane. But they cut across the first lane without checking that it was clear.0 -

If £350 is just your volutary excess then there will be your compulsory excess on top of this. What compulsory excess did they put on your policy?0
