  • not seen it mentioned so BREAST PADS! or those nightys wont last more than 2 mins LOL. Tesco do great pads for the big bleed lol 99p for a pack of 10. They come in a pink packet if i recall and where the best out of all the ones i used. Hospital may supply you with nappies (mine did) and cotton wool etc, so ask them in advance if you get the chance :) Id also say bring in a magazine or book or something for when your on your own and a little bored (i was in for 4 days in total and bored still at times) Good luck x

Most important thing you have missed - maternity towels!;)

And a seperate bag with things for the actual labour (Socks, magazine, food, handheld fan etc)

The quantity for the baby is hard to decide and really depends on how long you will be in for. What I did was have a bag with the essentials you have listed, then another bag in the car with extra stuff 'just in case' (nappies, baby clothes etc)

You never know what will happen - my sis was in for a week after giving birth....I left after 4 hours.....

    Part of the Furniture
A towel (you'll want a bath or shower after labour i presume!)
    Breast pads
    Blankets for baby
    Dressing gown?
    Slippers/socks for you?

I'm trying to be as minimalist as possible too, but some items are quite bulky (towel, blankets, maternity towels, nappies etc), so my neat little bag is now 2 neat little bags. :D:D

    I've been Money Tipped!
You might one or two more nighties; I remember stinking of breastmilk when my boss came to visit me, not something I'm keen on remembering ...

In most hospitals now they give you a "labour" kit which includes a toothbrush and wash essentials for just after having the baby and then you could ask for another one when on the ward... they also come round with essential packs for when you have had the baby with nappy cream, nappies, wet wipes and such.... Might be worth checking with your hospital to see what they do ~ these are funded by the bounty group i believe so it is good stuff....

Definitely nappies and wipes as hospitals wont suuply them at most nowadays. Breast pads and maternity towels are another must. The amount of baby clothes you have seems fine, you can always get your mum/partner to bring more in if you have an extended stay.

Pack a snack in case you get hungry and a bottle of water as the midwives dont always have the time to fetch drinks. Some change for the phone in case you want to call home.

You can get cheap nighties at about £2 each in Matalan so they can be disposed of after as they get stained easily.

From what I remember of my bounty pack, it had a small tub of sudocrem, persil and comfort and the rest was all leaflets so not much use. They used to be really good but more literature and less freebies nowadays.
