My old workplace used to be right opposite an Lidl so I'd often pop in to grab some lunch or to do a cheeky quick shop during my lunch break, to take home later that night (obviously nothing frozen!)

This was one of the bigger stores, nice and bright. Reanlly fresh veg and fruit, never got home to find that some apples/satsumas had mouldy bits, unlike lots of times from Tesco! Bread is nice and cheap. Dairy products seem nice. My favourite spreadable cheese is from there, called "Crefee" I think. It's been a while since I've had some. :'( lol

Their own brand fizzy drinks called "Freeway", I believe, are cheap and the lemonade is alright. Don't know about the Colas/Orangeade but don't drink Orangeade and I only stick to Diet Coke or Pepsi Max when it comes to cola...

Oh and the meat is reasonably priced too. :)

Lidl is cheap and cheerful to me. Such a shame that, in my new hometown, the shop here is a lot further to get to.

ALDI every time, foods cheaper, tastes better too, I also find that ALDI is much more cleaner and the staff are more friendly too.

I prefer Lidl. Lidl near me has an in store bakery for the fresh bread rolls. Aldi doesn't even sell fresh bread rolls individually. Lidl sells many fruits and vegetables individually where Aldi sells them prepackaged in bags which in many cases are far too many for me being a single person. I want to buy 1 onion not 8 or more. I want 1 lemon not 3. The staff are friendlier at Lidl. The car parking easier at Lidl. I do go to Aldi for some things as Lidl doesn't have everything I need which is disappointing.

As has been said I do like the virtually unbeatable super 6 offer at Aldi so I'll check that before I go in case there is something on that list I like.

Someone said parking tickets....I have several parking tickets from Aldi and none from Lidl. Maybe I've just never overstayed as there is nothing next door to Lidl to visit.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • I prefer Aldi!. Nappy's are great quality. foil, kitchen roll, loo roll good too. They sell loose rolls and pastry's and have started selling loose fruit too. Whole chickens are great, sweet potatoes, the fruit pots and choc moose are a winner with my LO.
Did try Lidls when they had the £5 off £30 spend but could spend that much in there and the meat isnt that great compared to Aldi.
