There is no need to contact you off the forum, he's been given the advice needed which is similar to the advice you received on pepipoo
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Apologies for the format of the link

That's fine, we can copy and paste. This is only because you are new so your account is in quarantine! There is a restriction in providing links which will be lifted once it is established you are not here for spam purposes! :)

Thank you Taffy for your input

My suggested use of personal messaging included the following scenarios:-

A recent posting on PepiPoo proffers a few instances where contact with these parking control companies might be considered. One of them addresses a personal aspect where the registered keeper is "taking the flack" for the driver. This is where off-forum discussion/advice might be appropriate

Secondly, I can envisage a scenario where open discussion of a particular approach or standpoint would allow VCS et al to prempt or forestall it's use

Notwithstanding the above, it is of course advantageous that forum members share their experiences and expertise

I think a relevant question is what would the charge have been for parking where you were?

    Zero?

Then they have made no loss by you stopping there.

There are instances where contact could be considered, for example the driver informing the company he was the driver if the vehicle is hired or leased, or when it's a company vehicle. But the most effective way is ignoring them, it's been proved time and again that it works.

With the change this month nothing alters really to what I've said in the post. If someone wants to raise their heads and have a little fight they can challenge the parking company, and maybe use popla to cost them money.

    Ignore is good

    Off-forum pm's with a newbie is always a no-no.

Your whole post is odd but I won't point out in what way.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well, that is one of the oddest and most cryptic comments I've seen on any of the forums I inhabit. Bearing in mind the contents of the prominent Newbie Alert alongside my post would you care to enlarge on those points?

A newbie posts some info on a site asking for advice, and is given that advice. A few weeks later another newbie comes on and asks to have a dialogue with the first newbie offline.

You don't think that sounds a little odd?

Bear in mind that these forums are frequently patrolled by the private parking companies looking for ways to influence newbies that the advice we are posting is ill-advised.

I'm not saying you are from a PPC. But given the above, don't you think your request for the original newbie to contact you offline looks slightly odd? Especially when the subject for discussion is happily discussed openly on hundreds of other threads on this board every day?

Go back and read my original post ......... "If they would like to contact me by private message please feel free to do so" Just where did I ask to have a dialogue?

Yes, the subject under discussion does appear elsewhere but if you care to re-read the OP's site specific experience and my reponse that I had an identical issue perhaps you can see beyond the perception of me as a reincarnation of Jimmy Savile wearing a traffic warden's cap. The OP and I seem to come from the same area, had a very similar experience at almost the same time and might therefore have grounds to compare notes - would a PPC operative really have made a prior posting such as mine on PePiPoo and then tried to cross link it at a later date - or are we seeing Reds under the bed?

I'm sure the OP is an articulate adult and well capable of making up his own mind

    Dialogue, Private Message. Tomato, Tomayto.

I've tried to give you a reasonable generic explanation of why we might feel it slightly suspicious for a newbie to come on here and ask another newbie to get in touch by private message instead of discussing it in open forum like everyone else, and you've taken offence.

    Well done.

You've even managed to imply that I view you as some kind of Jimmy Savile figure. Talk about over-reactions and reading something into things that simply aren't there. Ah well, never mind.

In relation to this thread, as Duncan Bannatyne would say, "Ahm oot."
