You'll probably never hear another thing.
On the other hand, sometimes there is damage that can't be seen, e.g. brackets of bumper can buckle....
But it's probably the last you'll hear of it.
I had a bumb yesterday, nothing minor (about £110 fix, as I was driving one of the company Skodas). Driver was insistent on swapping details, I phoned his office at the roadside, booked it in when I've got back on the road, they've paid the bill (booked in for tomorrow am.) I used the 'it's a taxi' card with 'if I have to tell licensing, you'll take the car off the road for the weekend, so I don't want it going through insurance' as a scare tactic. Taxi plate on the back for good measure, toplight in the boot.
If there was no damage, even this isn't necessary, and people are known for playing the 'I'm a copper' game as a scare tactic. If he couldn't produce a warrant card on request, best advice is don't take him too seriously. I had an off duty DS as a witness yesterday, he produced warrant card as ID without hesitation to both of us.

In the meantime, relax, so many incidents cause broken bones, etc, etc, and even death, no one was hurt, its only metal, sleep well.
Have you only just passed your test or just started driving again from a long break.
If you passed your test a long time ago, sometimes its best to go for a refresher course.
I just passed my test and started driving. I am not going to worry now as nothing in my hands and i have to wait if the guy report to his insurance company.0 -

I passed my test, once upon a time, about 12 years ago.
I drove a little old Renault 5 that had several bumps and scrapes in it when I went abroad to Uni. I didn't make a claim in the 18 months I had it.
You've got nothing to worry about.

I was a little annoyed that someone hit my 5yr old Skoda with about 300k miles on it.
These things happen, they're unavoidable, we move on.

Definitely I have to move on and that too with a lesson.
Thanks again for your valuable responses.0 -

Well, if he was only taking pictures of your car, then he hasnt a leg to stand on.
good luckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I agree that I doubt you'll hear from him again. But obviously gather some evidence together if you can.
(e.g. Keep the pictures, ask the store for CCTV.)
In the event of a claim, I'd remember the fact he claimed to be an off duty policeman then failed to produce any ID to back him up as if it turns out to be true (or the more likely case it doesn't) it'll show up his credibility at least.0 -
Ya. Claiming to be a police officer when you aren't gets actual coppers interested very quickly.0
