How long did you leave it to rise for? Paul Hollywood (I think, I get a bit side tracked when he's on telly) says too quick a rise can cause them to drop

About 2.5 hours once they were shaped.

I use the mincer attachment fairly often, usually when Mr T has an offer on pork shoulder, it only cost me a tenner from fleabay and is a lot better than the electric mincer that died doing the same job.
I have not used a mincer attachment - not bought one yet. When you buy a pork shoulder - how big do you cut it before mincing. Does the whole thing get minced or do you remove rind/fat? I know that mince need some fat in it. I would rather do my own than buy it.

Wholemeal can be tricky. Maybe try adding a crushed vitamin C tablet along with the yeast?

I have to confess my wholemeal bread recipe is completely different to my white recipe. I use this one:

and don't bother with any of the optional ingredients.

Thanks, I'll give that a go next time.

Funny thing is when I used the 50/50 mix for cheese & onion bread it rises perfectly and doesn't drop. Strange.

  • Hi, does anyone know whether the KM300 mincer will fit the A701 please, having read a few things on the Internet it seems they may fit?
  • Moments of Santity - my understanding is that the newer 9xx series of mixers use the current range of attachments but the 7xx series use a different set of attachments so on that basis I don't think a KM attachment will fit your 7 series mixer - sorry!

  • Bread related - the flour this year is really bad because of the poor weather this year, apparently Panasonic are recommending that users of the bread maker put 1 tea spoon of lemon juice in wholemeal or 50/50 loaves as this helps with rising

Thanks for that - I think I'll try that tomorrow.

Today I made a mango cake, choc chip buns, and my daughter made biscuits.
