It will. If Dave transposes any of the four pairs of L1/L2 connections, it will 'line up' the two pairs of switches when the lights are both on or both off. I suppose it will provide some kind of happy symmetry. It is not that common to have two ways for both floors on both floors.

Also I switched the L1 and L2 and everything lines up in a totaly OCD way if all the switches are off the lights are all off!!

but what happens now if you switch the upstairs light on from downstairs & then switch it off from upstairs ? arrrr it's ok it doesn't matter as the light is off you can't see the switches

then you need switch the downstairs on from upstairs to make it match!

aha that makes total sense to me now so in that case both sets of switches will be down ie in the on postion but both lights will be off, phew i'm glad we got that sorted out :T
