When my OH and I lived in Glasgow we were witnesses to one of our close friends wedding at Glasgow Registry Office, that was in 1974 and then all four of us went for a sit down meal of Fish and Chips. Very low key indeed and they are still happily married.:)
See that's the thing. I would have liked 'a wedding' really, but I would rather have my marriage than any other one. Dh and I chose to put our needs before our wants and the wants of others, and did it a bit 'us against the world' . We felt we had Ben spiritually 'bonded' and as committed as marriage for some time and the legality, rather than the spirituality, was no big deal for us on that basis.0 -
Oh one other lovely suprise was that we bumped into one of SB's old BF that she was in Primary School with and it was a lovely reunion for them. He is in Warwick Uni and was home to see his parents who were also present we have not seen them either since we moved away from their village four years ago. A great day for our family today.:)0

This was also the feeling of the Bride but due to her loosing her Dad when she was small they felt more comfortable with their choice, as long as they were happy in the end.:)0 -

On investigation, it appears the ad server which serves all my ads (and other content) to all my sites has .... been randomly shut down, they don't know how long for, after a serious attack at the weekend
So ... now I need to find a new ad server, rebuild all the ads/content .... the first time I did this it took 100 hours. When I updated my method I did document most of the zones (over 1000 zones) .... but even if I could muster the enthusiasm I am looking at donkeys' hours of work
... not to mention actually finding an acceptable ad server before I can even do that.
What a total, utter PITA! By the time you've done the 100 hours, the ad server will probably be up and running again.
Can you use the 80/20 principle - just update the 20% of your sites that generate 80% of your income? (May even be 90/10 in your case, hopefully.)No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

It's looking quite final, the shutting down of the openx....
I'll eventually rebuild everything ..... it's just this life is a perpetual round of sudden shutdowns and changes outside of my control, which makes for hard work. You invest your time/energy in something ... that suddenly closes overnight. And this bunch didn't even send out an email!0 -
Even Radlett from the train is improved by the snow on my journey in to work.
Another very good garage day with most cars having 3-4 inches of very heavy snow on themStill snowing a tiny bit in SW1.
Another got married in a registry office without any family involvement person here - something else the NP are over represented with?
A good sprinkling of heavy snow today but nothing settled. A bit disappointing really.
We got married in a RC church 30 years ago this year. It was a year after my father had died and we did not know it but OH's mum was terminally ill . She died 10 weeks after our wedding. I am glad she saw her beloved son married and was in the midst of a family gathering in those final weeks.
It was very 80's - pronuptia dress, Trust House Forte hotel reception for 100+.
Lovely honeymoon, a night in an old hotel in Wells then back to our new home for a night then bunk beds on the St Malo Ferry as we went to a gite in Brittany.
I have posted on the holidays board this weekend as we are looking for a Maldives holiday this year to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We started looking a few months ago but got fed up with 'too much choice'. We were paralysyed by indecision and it was putting us off.0 -
My wedding has currently been 12 years in the planning, and still not happened yet....Maybe this year, maybe next, I don't know!
I will make sure it goes perfectly well when it does eventually happen though!
