After our yummy rice and chicken supper last night ( which I plan several alterations to the recipe for next time we are having a potato leek and black pudding 'cake' for supper tonight from that same book.
I really like what I have cooked so far, (my changes will improve recipe imo and simplify method) From the book but it seems to me she makes the methods as complicated and washing up heavy as possible for the resulting recipe.
It always strikes me as odd when people make the work hardest rather than simplest for the same result on the palate. It's sort of putting for those who need to make a meal in under an hut including washing up (e.g. The chicken meal last night took ages but I think I can simplify it to do it in about 45 minutes plus washing up, while adding the step of debone ing the chicken to serve it of the bone tossed in the rice rather than on the bone.0 -

Sometimes your typos are delightfully comical, lir. I am imagining you in a little hole dug out underneath a wooden hut, trying to cook complicated meals down there.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
A costly option on the generating and retaining criteria (but worth it if this is your forever home( - PN get your Posh Alert out of the way now - Viva could you install an Aga or Rayburn/Stanley type cooker? The Rayburn/Stanley would also run your heating
We do not have a radiator in tne kitchen, windows are only single glazed and ours is quite toasty.

Oh yes, I worked out it meant hour without any difficulty. It didn't stop me understanding or appreciating what you wanted to say. It just gave me a mood lifting moment of enjoyment of the ridiculous as a bonus.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? A couple of years ago I was completely redecorating our bathroom which really needed it and I bought a heated towel rail on Ebay for £35 and fitted it in place of the old type central heating radiator, and the towels are kept so warm it makes you come to life in these cold mornings.:)
The radiator is similar to this one in B&Q but stainless steel.

I rarely have heating on in a bathroom. This one's got a heated towel rail, which I only turn on when my washing's in there and I want my jeans to dry immediately .... they're there now, they'll be dry in 2 hours
Cold bathrooms ... not the ones we remember from the 60s/70s if they're nicer looking, double glazed and better insulated.0 -
